Live from New York it’s—every comedian you could name.
It seemed as though the atmosphere was just like that of the Saturday Night Live: The 50th Anniversary Celebration special’s after-party held at New York City’s Plaza Hotel. Notable cast members from the sketch comedy series, including Chevy Chase who pioneered the “Weekend Update” segment, and John Mulaney (accompanied by his wife Olivia Munn), appeared following the live broadcast on Peacock and NBC, which took place on February 16th.
Additionally, these stars are expected to join in the festivities: Bad Bunny, Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Bowen Yang, Andy Cohen, Lady Gaga, Chris Pine, Jason Sudeikis, among others.
Before the Saturday Night Live after-party, which began in 1975 and is produced by Lorne Michaels, held an extended celebration lasting over three hours at Studio 8H within Rockefeller Center, where the show has been filmed since its debut.
Besides the existing cast members such as Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernandez, Chloe Fineman, and Yang taking part in this historic occasion, additional celebrities like Miley Cyrus (previously a three-time host and six-time musical guest), Sabrina Carpenter (once a musical guest), and Kim Kardashian (who has hosted once) made brief appearances.
Indeed, it was truly a delightful reunion as some of the most memorable faces from my favorite comedy series graced the event last night. Among them were Kate McKinnon (seasons 37-47), Sandler (seasons 15-20), and Tina Fey (seasons 25-31).
Furthermore, although the February 16 special marked the primary occasion to celebrate the beloved show’s 50th anniversary, a multitude of stars have been reflecting on their experiences within Studio 8H throughout the entire year as well.
McKinnon expressed to People last month that she had always desired something. “At age 12,” she recalled, “watching the camaraderie among performers after a show, I would think, ‘I need to be a part of this.’
Additionally, numerous other comedians renowned for their skills, but who weren’t part of the Saturday Night Live cast, were also present to mark the special 50th anniversary event.
Ayo Edebiri from The Bear and Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary, who each hosted an episode during SNL’s 49th and 48th seasons respectively, were also present. Notable attendees included the members of SNL’s five-timers club: Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, and Steve Martin.
