Rocksteady Studios attempted a shift towards third-person looter shooter games with ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’, but it appears this new direction was not successful. For their upcoming project, the British studio seems to be returning to a genre that fans of their work will find more recognizable.
On the career section of Warner Bros. Discovery’s official site, Rocksteady Studios has posted a job opening for a Game Director role. The qualifications listed demand solid leadership in game design and extensive experience across various genres, with a particular emphasis on third-person action games, melee combat games, and open-world exploration titles.
The Batman: Arkham series focused on melee fights and exploration in an open world, and it appears that Rocksteady Studios might be planning to revisit these elements with their upcoming game. Rumors suggest that this new project could be another Batman title due to the underperformance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, reports also indicate that the game is not expected for several more years, so we may not learn much about it soon as Rocksteady currently lacks a director for this project.
