Characters in the game Avowed can create entire character builds centered around the items they possess, as there’s an abundance of exclusive weapons and armor to experiment with. One such weapon among this vast array is Horsecutter, which suits players who prefer aggressive melee combat styles.
In the magical-themed game, players have the freedom to opt for a pure melee playstyle that’s equally potent. The Horsecutter could be the cornerstone of this approach, and fortunately, you can secure it fairly early within the game’s world called Avowed.
Avowed Horsecutter Location
In the Emerald Stair, which follows Dawnshore as the second explorable region, lies Horsecutter. This sword is currently being wielded by some kind of skeleton ruler nestled in a cove along the southern coastline. Despite its appearance, the skeleton is not yet deceased; to claim Horsecutter, you must first demonstrate your worthiness. Prepare for battle, and since you haven’t enhanced your equipment in Avowed just yet, this might be an opportune moment to do so.
Engage in a combat duel with the Bone King to initiate a skirmish. His bodyguard will join the fray, attacking you and your group. Defeat him, and additional skeleton warriors will emerge to battle. The fight can become quite chaotic, particularly on the toughest setting. Prioritize taking out archers and healers, and instruct your comrades to engage the Skeleton Monks and other melee enemies to keep them busy.
After you defeat all the skeletons hiding in the cove, make your way back to the Skeletal Master, and he will grant you the prize of Horsecutter for your triumphant effort.
How Good is Horsecutter?
This weapon is a type that requires two hands to wield. It’s capable of inflicting significant amounts of both standard and stun damage. Uniquely, this weapon features two special effects:
1. When you strike an opponent, there’s a chance they’ll be momentarily stunned, unable to retaliate.
2. Upon landing a critical hit, the weapon emits a powerful shockwave that can knock nearby enemies off balance.
- Horsecutting Strokes: A full combo attack deals high Stun damage
- Bleeding Slash: Hits deal bonus Bleed Damage
From its distinct abilities, it appears that the Horsecutter is intended for frequent use. To maximize the weapon’s potential, aim for a high Stamina level and increased Attack Speed to stun enemies and cause bleeding as rapidly as you can.
Remember, each point you add to your Dexterity slightly boosts your Attack Speed, but after investing five points, the benefits will gradually decrease. To enhance your Attack Speed more effectively, consider using items that boost your Dexterity rather than adding more points as you progress. Additionally, Giatta, one of the companions in Avowed, possesses a skill that temporarily accelerates the team’s Attack Speed.
