It was stated by Louisa Lytton that her EastEnders character, Ruby Allen, will not meet her end in the coming episodes, despite rumors among fans suggesting otherwise.
This week, the BBC One soap opera plans to eliminate some characters as a dramatic element for its special 40th-anniversary episodes. These episodes will feature a catastrophic event – an explosion – tearing through the iconic Queen Vic pub.
Since it was announced that Lytton would be returning for an extended period in her role and has since been cast in a theatre version of The Girl on the Train, some fans speculated that Ruby might not appear in the 40th-anniversary episodes – and interestingly enough, as part of the show’s ‘ruby’ anniversary.
On Morning Live on Tuesday, 18th February 2024, Lytton dismissed that theory as he stated it wasn’t true.

Regarding the ongoing love triangle involving Ruby, her ex-husband Martin Fowler, and her old friend Stacey Slater, Lytton chose to keep specific storyline aspects a secret when questioned.
Lytton chuckled, finding it difficult to reveal all the secrets. ‘I can’t disclose a lot, but let me tell you, we have some fantastic things planned ahead,’ he hinted. ‘It’s exciting, and working with Lacey and James is truly wonderful. I couldn’t ask for better collaborations; I feel incredibly fortunate.’
As a dedicated cinephile, I’d say experiencing Ruby across various roles feels like stepping into the shoes of distinct characters. It’s fascinating because each phase of her on-screen journey mirrors different stages of her personal growth, both as an actor and as a person.
Regarding her forthcoming stage performance, Lytton mentioned that she will indeed be starting it soon, but clarified that contrary to what some people believe, her character will not be dying in the play.
As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but wonder if Lytton is intentionally misleading us with a false alarm to heighten the drama for viewers, or could it be that there’s a twist in the story and Ruby will survive after all?
