As a dedicated enthusiast, I can’t help but ponder about what lies ahead for Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 now that the day one patch has effectively addressed many of the initial worries. What exciting developments are in store for us strategy fans?
The premium and pre-ordered versions have already added some leaders and cosmetics, but we anticipate even more enhancements.
Reflecting on the 20 DLC expansions for Civilization 6, it seems the trajectory for its successor can only point upward in terms of potential success.
So, is there a Civilization 7 roadmap? And if so, what can we expect in the coming months?
Let’s take a look the confirmed DLC plans.
Is there an official Civ 7 roadmap?
At the time of writing, we know Firaxis Games’ plans for Civ 7 right up until October this year.
This year promises a multitude of significant changes, including new leadership, exciting events, and fresh challenges – making it a dynamic and action-packed period.
The following graphic was released on the Dev Diary section of the official website:

What to expect from Civ 7 DLC plans
According to the diagram, there will be a significant amount of new content and updates forthcoming over the next few months. Let me explain this further.
March 2025
- Crossroads of the World Collection coming early March
- 1.1.0 Major Update coming early March
- Crossroads of the World Collection coming late March
- 1.1.1 Update coming late March
Between April and September 2025
- Right to Rule Collection (paid DLC)
- Free content update for all players
As we compose this, it’s clear that there’s a lot more information to come. Similar to Civilization 6, which received continuous updates all the way up to 2023, five years post-release, we anticipate a similar pattern in this case.
Additionally, the image concludes with the phrase “to be continued,” implying that there will likely be a lot of chatter and conjecture on discussion forums and social networks.
As soon as we know more, we’ll be sure to update this very page.
