New Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remaster In the Works, Tyshawn Jones Claims

The game “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2,” released in 2020, was a massive critical success, leading many to anticipate additional content or a sequel. However, rumors emerged suggesting a remake merging “THPS 3” and “4” had been proposed by developer Vicarious Visions, but was rejected by Activision in favor of focusing on Call of Duty. Although that proposal didn’t materialize, Tony Hawk himself hinted at the series’ potential future, offering some encouragement to fans eager for a new installment. Since then, there has been relatively little information about this teaser… until now.

In the latest installment of The Breakfast Club podcast, DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious standing in for her, and Charlamagne interviewed professional skateboarder Tyshawn Jones. During their discussion about the progression of skateboarding and his career, they touched upon the possibility of a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (THPS) game being released. When asked specifically about Skate 4, Jones revealed that he is indeed featured in the upcoming game, but it’s actually a remaster rather than an entirely new numbered entry.

Jones mentioned, “It’s like being back in a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game, which is great! They are releasing an updated version of it soon, and I was part of the previous one.

There’s still much uncertainty about the upcoming THPS remaster. Is it connected to the proposed remakes of 3 and 4 ? Who else besides Tony Hawk and Tyshawn Jones will be playable characters? And who is developing the game now that Vicarious Visions no longer uses that name? These questions remain unanswered for now, but we’ll find out when an official announcement about the game is made.
