Tonight’s EastEnders (February 18th) concluded with quite a spectacle, as the Queen Vic caught fire.
Amidst the joyous celebrations of Honey’s (Emma Barton) and Billy’s (Perry Fenwick) wedding within and beyond the pub, an unexpected figure from our past seemed to be circling Albert Square. I couldn’t help but wonder who it was.
Jonny Freeman, also known as Reiss Colwell, returned to Walford this week, having been absent for a while. He dropped by Sonia’s place (played by Natalie Cassidy) to leave a note for her.
However, Bianca (Patsy Palmer) had to miss out on the wedding celebrations as she was too distraught and traumatized from her time in prison to join in, instead choosing to watch TV at home.
She had been anxious about Reiss coming back, but her darkest apprehension became reality when she encountered him in the kitchen.
Although he pushed her to the ground to flee, Bianca managed to track him down and jumped into his suspicious vehicle, compelling him to speed away quickly.
Bianca couldn’t possibly catch up with him because he sped away from Albert Square at a risky pace.
As I found myself squarely in the thick of it all, Cindy (Michelle Collins), the central figure, was locked in a heated exchange with Ian (Adam Woodyatt), not about trivial matters, but over the identity of her attacker. The enigmatic Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) hung heavily in the air as the subject of their heated discussion.
Ian gave Cindy two options: accept his substantial bribe to avoid calling the police, or face an exhausting legal battle if she refused.
After pondering for a bit, Cindy went ahead with her choice, causing Ian to stumble into the street just as Reiss was approaching at high speed.
Fortunately, he was able to steer clear of Ian, but unfortunately, he crashed into a liquor store at the Queen Vic, which happened to contain numerous gas cylinders.
I, being George (Colin Salmon), rushed to assist Reiss from the vehicle, all the while urging Cindy to ensure everyone’s safety by evacuating the pub promptly as the fire was worsening.
But he was horrified to discover the canisters – as well as the fact Reiss had disappeared.
Before he could really take action, the Queen Vic exploded, propelling George and Ian to the floor.
Ian arrived and took a look at the destruction, as the gravity of the situation became apparent; nearly all the residents of Walford were either inside or nearby the pub.
Who will live and who will die?
