Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, creative director of the upcoming open-world RPG “The Blood of Dawnwalker,” has shared that players will have the ability to eliminate crucial Non-Player Characters (NPCs) within the game. During an interview with GamesRadar, Tomaszkiewicz discussed the game’s design as a sandbox environment, emphasizing the importance of providing ample player freedom.
On the other hand, although gameplay flexibility is a significant feature in The Blood of Dawnwalker, Tomaszkiewicz also emphasized that Rebel Wolves excels in creating compelling narratives and developing intriguing characters.
In an interview, Tomaszkiewicz explained that the game is like a sandbox, offering you numerous choices to make it your own. However, it’s not just about improving gameplay; our aim was also to capitalize on our strengths, as our previous projects heavily emphasized narrative, compelling storylines, well-developed characters, and intriguing lore for players to explore.
In “The Blood of Dawnwalker,” the main character will already be fully developed, but players can customize them to their preference by making significant decisions throughout the game. This personalization extends as far as allowing players to eliminate characters crucial to the main plot if they so choose.
As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “While Coen is our pre-defined character with his unique traits, we’re giving you the power to mold him in your own image. You get to make significant decisions, even ending the lives of major Non-Player Characters (NPCs), shaping the game world and the storyline around Coen.
He explained, “At times, such actions might result in different results or even block certain storylines. This is connected to other game elements, and as a Dawnwalker, your blood craving during the night could unintentionally cause NPC deaths if you’re not cautious.
Thomaszkiewicz had earlier discussed how The Blood of Dawnwalker functions as a narrative playground, allowing gamers to influence the plot via their decisions, which may occur not only within the storyline but also throughout gameplay.
Back in January, Tomaszkiewicz described it as enabling the player’s interaction with it. Essentially, he wants to provide a platform that maximizes player autonomy and choice, all while maintaining the exceptional narrative quality that they have been recognized for in their previous works.
