Aquaman’s Michael Beach Reveals He Almost Returned in Sequel

As we wait for the debut of the DCU with Superman, let’s reminisce about Aquaman’s initial movie outing. It was there that Aquaman and Black Manta first clashed, instigated by Aquaman taking the life of Black Manta’s father. This regrettable act set Black Manta on a vengeful journey, leading him towards darkness.

Michael Beach, the actor who played Black Manta’s father, Jesse Kane, in “Aquaman”, disclosed that he was offered a chance to reappear in the sequel.

In a conversation with ComicBook, he mentioned that discussions took place about filming a few scenes for Aquaman 2, primarily flashbacks. However, due to scheduling conflicts and other issues, it couldn’t happen. As an alternative, they incorporated a few clips from the initial movie to refresh the audience’s memory regarding why Black Manta harbors such intense hatred towards Aquaman.

Despite being unable to rejoin for additional filming, Beach shared his affection for his time within the DCEU. “It was a blast,” he said. “The movie is massive. To witness its size and the intricate details that go into constructing the sets was truly remarkable.” Beach added, “It was an exceptional experience. Director James Wan, whom I’ve worked with previously, has a childlike enthusiasm for this kind of work. He pours his heart into it, and his boundless energy made being part of such a large production exhilarating.”
