The Last of Us Season 2 Release Date Announced by HBO

At last, the long-awaited Season 2 of HBO’s “The Last of Us” finally gets a release date. Earlier in the year, HBO announced along with a new trailer that “The Last of Us” would reappear on HBO and Max around April 2025. Although fans had a rough idea when Season 2 would be out due to other HBO programming, this premiere date has now been officially confirmed.

In a fresh press announcement today, HBO unveiled that the second season of ‘The Last of Us’ will premiere on April 13th (Sunday). Subsequent episodes are slated to air every Sunday thereafter until the conclusion of Season 2. Contrasting with the first season that spanned nine episodes in total, HBO has verified that the second season will only consist of seven episodes.

Five years on from the incidents in Season 1, Joel and Ellie find themselves embroiled in strife with each other and a world that has become even more treacherous and volatile than the one they originally departed from, as depicted by HBO in their description of The Last of Us Season 2.

Even though Season 2 of “The Last of Us” may be shorter than its predecessor, it’s expected that the series will continue with a third season eventually. As Showrunner Craig Mazin mentioned earlier, adapting “The Last of Us Part II” to television would require several seasons due to its extended length compared to the original game. Although HBO hasn’t confirmed “The Last of Us” Season 3 just yet, it seems likely that we’ll hear about a renewal for another season shortly after Season 2 is broadcasted.

In the upcoming Season 2 of “The Last of Us,” Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will reprise their roles as Ellie, with Gabriel Luna returning as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Some new faces joining the cast are Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino playing Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez portraying Manny, Jeffrey Wright in the role of Isaac, and Catherine O’Hara appearing in a yet-to-be-specified guest part.
