There are some things you never expect when you’re expecting.
Social media sensation Yanni Giles, anticipating the birth of her daughter, has generated buzz on TikTok by sharing her unusual craving for dish soap during her pregnancy.
In the video posted on February 13th, she expressed that it smelled incredibly delicious, adding that it seemed as though one could almost taste it.
The internet celebrity, mother of sons Golden (age 4) and Sehvahn (age 2), along with husband Tourone Giles, abstains from consuming or drinking it directly, but finds ways to immerse herself in its scent. She does this by adding it to ice water for sniffing while eating crushed ice, and also by cleaning her washing machine and cleaning her home with the product.
In one of her videos (which has amassed over 20 million views), Yanni satisfied a unique itch of hers by pouring dishwashing liquid into her kitchen sink, then turning on the faucet and allowing the basin to fill with bubbles so she could inhale the soapy aroma.
There could be a scientific explanation for this desire. Yanni often links it to anemia, a condition that may become more common during pregnancy, as suggested by the Mayo Clinic.
Yanni pointed out that, although it might appear unusual, her craving for dish soap isn’t something entirely novel.
During all three of my pregnancies, I had a strong desire for dish soap,” she mentioned in her January 20th post caption. “I use it frequently… and even though it disappears after childbirth, you won’t find me stopping my posts about it.
And it seems other pregnant folks can relate to the unique rush from smelling the suds.
The user expressed that what they saw was incredibly genuine and nobody seemed to understand it, as evidenced by their comment on one of Yanni’s posts. Another user mentioned that they would be sad when a baby arrives because they will miss this (whatever ‘this’ refers to).
While Yanni and Tourone eagerly anticipate the birth of their third child, let’s take a look at which celebrities have already welcomed newborns this year, 2025.
