Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Wraps Up Japanese Voice Work on Scene With Six Actors

Hideo Kojima, director of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, shared on social media platform X that they’ve completed another round of Japanese voice recording. In his post, Kojima expressed gratitude towards the voice actors and mentioned feeling a bit sad saying goodbye to them after collaborating with them for ten months.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that in one of his updates, Kojima revealed that our beloved studio has completed the Japanese voiceovers for a pivotal scene, featuring no less than six unique characters.

Today, Kojima completed a significant Japanese voiceover session involving six actors simultaneously. This included Kenjiro Tsuda, Nana Mizuki, Tomokazu Sugita, Shion Wakayama, Akihiko Ishizumi, and Mitsuru Miyamoto. It marks the end of 10 months worth of recording for them. While I’m thrilled about this milestone, it also brings a sense of melancholy.

Kojima adds that although a challenging and crucial scene has now been completed, there’s still lots of Japanese voiceover work remaining on the project. He ends his post expressing gratitude towards the talented actors he collaborates with. To celebrate their success, Kojima has shared pictures of their celebrations together as well.

He shared, “We’re not done with the Japanese recordings just yet, everyone. Your diligence is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. It was a blast! I can’t wait for our next project together.

The recording for Japanese voices in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been nearly completed for several actors. Earlier this year, Kojima commemorated the completion of Shioli Kutsuna’s work on the project. He expressed gratitude to her with a bouquet, acknowledging that she had contributed significantly to various facets of the game, such as 3D scanning and performance capture.

In addition to all his efforts on the game, Kojima has been hinting at the arrival of a fresh trailer for “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”. So far, not much about the trailer has been disclosed, but a brief glimpse was given in one of Kojima’s tantalizing posts.

The brief snippet we witnessed carried an enigmatic air, much like one might expect from an isolated sequence in a Hideo Kojima-crafted game. However, it did feature Fragile and protagonist Sam Porter engaged in a discussion about encountering someone for the first time in person.

Kojima’s latest hint towards the trailer was a message reading “Editing” accompanied by some images, but regrettably, they didn’t disclose any additional information about the game. Similar to his earlier tease for the trailer, there was also a bottle of an extra beverage visible in the pictures.

Despite Hideo Kojima not revealing the trailer release or launch date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Sony and Kojima Productions have confirmed a special event for the game on March 9, 2025. This exclusive panel will be held at SXSW 2025, with Hideo Kojima himself in attendance.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is currently in development for PS5.
