Back in the golden era when it was trendy for animated animals eating pizza seemed amazing, 90s kids had a delicious time. Although the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles eventually became familiar faces, their fame pales in comparison to the trio of Speedy Cerviche, Polly Esther, and Guido Anchovy, who together made up the Samurai Pizza Cats – a group that still holds an iconic status today. But for those with a discerning taste, the Samurai Pizza Cats outshine Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Donatello any day.

After more than three decades, the threesome is finally receiving their recognition, as Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past, a 2D action RPG, has been announced for multiple platforms, with an anticipated release in 2026. With The Big Cheese planning to bribe animators in order to become playable and ultimately be crowned Emperor of Little Tokyo, only the Samurai Pizza Cats, boasting their signature self-awareness (“We have nine lives, plus extra lives!”), can thwart his plans.
Are you just as thrilled as us about the much-anticipated comeback of Samurai Pizza Cats? Have memories of their iconic theme song popped into your head at different times over the last 30 years? Brace yourself for a flood of nostalgia in the comments section below.
