The BBC has shared initial images for its upcoming six-episode drama titled Wild Cherry. This series will feature House of the Dragon actress Eve Best and True Detective actor Carmen Ejogo in leading roles, while being created and starred by Nicôle Lecky, who is known for her work on Mood.
Additionally, Lecky appears in Wild Cherry, joining forces with Imogen Faires (from Marcella) and debutant Amelia May. You can spot them all in the latest photos.
In the series, Ejogo portrays Lorna, a thriving, multiracial entrepreneur from Northwest London who has made it on her own, whereas Best takes on the role of Lorna’s friend Juliet, who was born into the affluent neighborhood they both reside in.
However, things take a turn when Grace and Allegra become entangled in a scandalous situation at their prestigious private school. This event causes Juliet and Lorna to pick sides, straining their friendship to the brink of collapse.
In a small, picturesque town where everything seemed perfect on the surface, I began to uncover a storm of hidden truths and deceit. The charm started cracking, revealing signs of a deeply rooted elitism and darkness that lay dormant beneath.
The series is labeled as a “provocative and frank exploration of mother-daughter dynamics in the storm of social media, concealed applications, and unyielding peer pressure,” that probes the boundaries we cross to shield our kids, and the depth of teenage daughters’ understanding about the women shaping their upbringth.
