1923, the prequel series set in Yellowstone, is coming back for its second and concluding season, with actor Timothy Dalton hinting at an exciting, grand conclusion to the storyline created by Taylor Sheridan.

In the Paramount Plus series, Dalton portrays cold-hearted business magnate Donald Whitfield. Striving for control over Montana, Whitfield resorts to bribery and intimidation. However, he finds himself at odds with Harrison Ford’s character, Jacob Dutton, as Whitfield employs his financial clout and aggressive methods in a bid to take over the Dutton ranch.

“I think we’ve done it very well,” Dalton said of the final episodes.

Speaking about his initial encounter with the final part of the series, he commented: “When you first read something new, it’s not really about being content or unhappy. Instead, you need to delve into it repeatedly to grasp every aspect and intricacy that makes it function. Only after thoroughly studying it did I conclude… mission accomplished!

The most poignant moment occurred when filming concluded and he said goodbye for the last time to his character and the series. Standing on a mountain in Montana, I gazed upon an expansive landscape below, having climbed quite high, marveling at the terrain that had been molded by the unseen forces beneath us all, feeling awestruck by the scene.

I found it extraordinary and when I said, ‘That’s it, I won’t be seeing this again for a while, or maybe ever…’ I felt both sad it ended and proud of how well we did it. I hope we excelled beyond just doing well.”

This version maintains the original sentiment but uses simpler language that is easy to understand while still sounding natural and engaging.

Despite being set over a hundred years back, Dalton acknowledged that characters such as Whitfield are not exclusive to the era of 1923; they possess timeless qualities.

Doesn’t he seem quite ordinary, almost respectable, but hiding beneath that facade is a hidden realm, doesn’t it?” or

“He appears to be an upstanding citizen, but beneath the surface, there’s a different world lurking, right?

In the upcoming episodes, the character will strive to emerge victorious against formidable opponents, the Duttons, who pose a threat. However, despite Whitfield seemingly playing an adversarial role, Dalton suggests that Ford’s character, Jacob, is not entirely innocent. He was responsible for the deaths of five sheep herders in the initial season as retribution for their trespassing.

Isn’t it intriguing? Dutton might seem like the ‘good guy’ in a straightforward sense, but there’s nothing admirable about him, really. Who exactly is he? A paragon of virtue? He’s just as morally compromised [as Whitfield]. Therefore, I believe that my character intends to bring him down – and seize that land for himself.

As a cinephile, I must admit, I relished the opportunity to collaborate with the legendary Harrison Ford on the small screen for the first time through the series “1923.” Despite our professional rivalry, it was an absolute pleasure to share the set with this iconic figure from Star Wars and Indiana Jones fame.

Dalton remarked, “I believe Harrison has starred in around ten to eleven films that have grossed millions upon millions. Impressive, isn’t it? He’s truly remarkable, a significant figure in the world of cinema, and it’s delightful to collaborate with him!
