Fans Spot Huge Plot Hole in Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Darkest Moment

Instead of depicting lighthearted scenes with pro-bending matches or romantic outings for Zuko, the series Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel, The Legend of Korra, also presented some very grim episodes. Notably, the first installment started with the annihilation of the Air Nation. Some of these intense scenes were actually pivotal to the shows. However, more than a decade following its premiere, viewers have spotted an intriguing inconsistency in one of The Legend of Korra‘s most harrowing sequences.

In the third season of “The Legend of Korra,” protagonist Korra faced off against the Red Lotus, a group led by the rejuvenated airbender, Zaheer. Following the Harmonic Convergence, Zaheer regained his abilities and used them to establish an anarchistic rule. This regime aimed at overthrowing the Earth Kingdom’s queen, which it eventually did in a violent display of airbending. However, some viewers found this scene illogical as it contradicted the non-lethal approach adopted by “The Last Airbender.” Zaheer, in a significant departure from the former series, mercilessly killed the Earth Kingdom’s queen.

Zaheer’s Coldest Line in The Legend of Korra Made No Sense

In a ruthless manner, Zaheer took the life of the Earth Kingdom’s queen by draining the air from her lungs and generating a vacuum around her head. As he carried out this act, Zaheer delivered a chilling speech about freedom, saying “You believe that freedom can be granted or taken at will. But to your people, freedom is as vital as air…” However, the unfortunate reality was that the Earth Kingdom’s queen would not have been able to hear these words.

One Reddit user pointed out an interesting detail: Since sound can’t travel in a vacuum, Earth Kingdom queen wouldn’t have heard Zaheer’s speech if it was indeed in a vacuum. The user wrote, “If this is a vacuum, the earth queen didn’t hear a single word from Zaheer.” The Avatar fanbase generally agreed on this logical point, highlighting how plot inconsistencies can spark debates online.

Although the plot point is logical given the scene’s context, some viewers noted that Zaheer was a character who often indulged in self-expression. The leading comment on the thread reads, “Let’s face it, 90% of Zaheer’s speeches were more about Zaheer himself.

The Next Avatar Has Been Revealed
