Actor Timothy Dalton, famous for his role as James Bond, expressed his shock and surprise at the decision of long-term 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson to step down.
Yesterday, it was disclosed that the duo is set to relinquish creative authority over the Bond franchise to Amazon MGM, a role they have assumed since the demise of the original Bond producer, Albert R ‘Cubby’ Broccoli, in 1996.
The recent news signified the conclusion of an epoch in the Bond film series, as it has been a privately-owned family venture since the debut of Dr. No back in 1962.
He expressed great astonishment and shock upon learning about Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson leaving their positions.
Barbara is truly exceptional, both as a person and a producer, much like her father Cubby Broccoli. I had a great relationship with Cubby, admiring him deeply. He was an incredibly influential and steadfast pillar for the project, ensuring nothing moved forward without his approval. It’s unfortunate that he’s no longer here, and all I can express is my regret about this loss.

In simpler terms, Dalton’s two appearances as Bond in “The Living Daylights” (1987) and “Licence to Kill” (1989) are known for sticking more closely to Ian Fleming’s original James Bond novels. This change brought the films into a darker tone, moving away from the more humorous Roger Moore era.
Considering possible future paths for Bond, it was advised that Amazon should avoid venturing too far from the elements that have kept the character endearing since the 1960s.
This franchise is truly amazing. Through the years, the films have explored various paths, but I hold a special affection for the original installment. I eagerly anticipate Amazon will recognize its charm and create a movie that has captivated and provided enjoyment for countless individuals like myself.

Wilson expressed a desire to concentrate on artistic and philanthropic endeavors, while Broccoli mentioned her decision to focus on other projects was influenced by his retirement.
