Gabriel Macht Opens Up About Bittersweet Return to the U.S. After Moving Abroad

Living abroad may suit Gabriel Macht, but Los Angeles will always be in his heart.

Following their relocation from the U.S., the former Suits cast member found it both joyful and sad to go back to his childhood city, which had been devastated by wildfires in January.

Gabriel, who had previously paid a visit to one of the impacted areas before attending the February 20th premiere of Suits LA, shared his thoughts with People, saying, “This is where I come from and many people are facing hardships currently. It’s challenging times indeed.

However, even though the scene was quite distressing, the 53-year-old found it heartening to witness the city’s remarkable resilience.

“We’ll definitely bounce back,” he continued, “but there are challenging times.”

Gabriel and his spouse Jacinda Barrett made a decision to move their children, Satine (age 17) and Luca (age 11), along with themselves, amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. Prior to this shift, the family of four had been residing in New York City.

In a conversation with TopMob News, Gabriel expressed that his motivation for moving internationally was to explore various viewpoints of the world. He’s eager to gather diverse perspectives, learn from others, and gain insights into history, culture, and personality across the globe.

Besides, he noted, “It’s a great way to raise kids.”

Gabrial shared that he spent a significant amount of his formative years with his daughter while they were both involved with the show “Suits”. He mentioned that those long days, which could stretch up to 16 hours, took away a lot of time. In an effort to avoid repeating this pattern during his son’s upbringing, he made a conscious decision not to commit as heavily to acting while his son was growing up.

So, will he ever move back to the U.S. for work?

He shared with People in January that he was not particularly keen on returning to acting at the moment because he’s already invested a considerable amount of time in it.

Gabriel added, “I got out of town and we’re exploring the world.”

The popular television talk show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres came to an end in 2022 following a 19-season broadcast. This decision was made after accusations of a harmful work environment surfaced, leading to an internal review, the dismissal of several executives, and widespread public criticism.

Ellen DeGeneres, who played Dory in “Finding Dory,” came back into the limelight with her last standup special titled “For Your Approval” on Netflix in September 2024. Prior to its release, it was announced that she plans to exit the Hollywood scene entirely.

She informed a gathering during her “Ellen’s Final Stand…Up” tour, as reported by SFGate, that this would be the final time they see her. Following the release of her Netflix special, she plans to retire.

Ellen and her spouse, Portia de Rossi, are said to have relocated to England following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, according to several sources.

Following roles in productions like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and the 2000 film “Bring It On”, Eliza announced in September 2024 that she had earned certification in psychedelic-assisted therapy and was continuing her education to become a mental health specialist.

She shared with Boston Magazine that she discovered a new path in life centered around healing herself, enabling her to assist others in their healing journey. It would be unfair not to express the change, serenity, and enthusiasm I’ve experienced. This is undeniably my true vocation, my genuine mission.

Actress who plays a key role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp” has decided to take an open-ended break from acting following two decades in show business.

In her Instagram post from June 2024, Evangeline expressed her happiness and contentment. She felt incredibly thankful for her blessings and spoke about the challenges of choosing a path less ordinary (like wealth and fame). However, she emphasized that following one’s purpose or calling (dharma) replaces fear with a sense of fulfillment instead.

She doesn’t definitively close the door on a possible future return to Hollywood, instead stating, “One day, I may be back to Hollywood, but for now, this is where I feel I truly belong.

Since the Netflix series “V-Wars” in 2019, an actor from “The Vampire Diaries” hasn’t taken on a new role. However, this father of two (with partner Nikki Reed) has chosen to focus on a personal project – making strides towards combating climate change by enhancing the quality of our soil.

Four years ago, I took a break from acting to focus on raising my children, establishing businesses, and bringing these films into the world, as mentioned in an interview with TopMob News in November 2023. The films, Kiss the Ground (released in 2020) and its sequel Common Ground, highlight the importance of regenerative farming.

Speaking about the future, he emphasized, “In the years ahead, I envision myself as a rancher and creator of notable brands – be it my bourbon or health and wellness company. My commitment to regenerative agriculture and promoting healthy soil management will remain central, not just for me but also for my family. This path is who I am and where I see myself going. And when people wonder ‘Why do you take such interest?’ It’s because this is my identity, this is the future I aspire towards.

In the February 2021 episode of her podcast, “Empty Inside”, the former iCarly star shared with guest Anna Faris that she stepped away from acting a couple of years ago and is currently exploring roles in scriptwriting, directing, and hosting the podcast.

Jennette openly shared her feelings about her acting career, stating, “I’m deeply ashamed of the roles I took on in my past.” This confession is based on her personal account detailed in her 2022 memoir titled I’m Glad My Mom Died. She expressed a sense of resentment towards her career, feeling underwhelmed by the characters she portrayed. To her, these roles seemed overly cheesy and embarrassing. Starting from when she was 13 years old and continuing until she was 21, she starred in shows that left her feeling embarrassed as early as age 15. Even her peers at 15 did not react with admiration about her being on a Nickelodeon show; instead, it felt like an embarrassment to her.

Although she hasn’t completely ruled out a return to acting, she now feels that writing her book has opened up a potential avenue for revisiting acting without carrying the heavy burden from her past. She mentioned to TopMob News in October 2022 that if she were to write something tailored specifically for herself, it might present an opportunity for her to tentatively re-enter the acting world again.

This seemed almost inevitable. If we had the chance to wed Prince Harry, devote our life to charitable endeavors close to our heart and acquire entry to the Queen’s magnificent tiara collection, saying goodbye to Hollywood might not be such a hard choice.

After following in the footsteps of Grace Kelly, who transitioned from Hollywood to the Monaco Palace, Markle gave up her home in Toronto and her successful role on Suits to embark on a life within The Firm. However, with Harry stepping down from their senior roles, she is gradually returning to business activities, including a multi-year production deal with Netflix.

Since she first appeared in “The Mask” in 1994, the actress had been involved in more than 40 films. After completing work on “Annie” in 2014, it was high time for her to take a well-deserved break from filming.

She shared with her friend Gwyneth Paltrow the reason behind her change in life choices, “I felt I desired different experiences,” she said. “For such a long time, I’ve been pushing myself, working, producing films, it’s relentless. Filmmaking can become an all-consuming endeavor—the studio essentially controls you. You dedicate 12 hours a day, for months at a stretch, leaving no room for anything else.

Additionally, there were many other areas she wished to delve into, such as writing (having published her 2013 New York Times best-seller The Body Book followed by The Longevity Book in 2016). She was also focused on starting a family with her husband Benji Madden. However, though she expressed to InStyle in 2019 that “I don’t miss performing. At the moment, I’m examining the landscape of wellness and all that,” it appears she might consider making a comeback for at least one more performance.

In a conversation with TopMob News, Jamie Foxx shared that he had humbly requested and expressed his eagerness to Diaz for the upcoming Netflix film, “Back in Action”. He expressed their deep admiration for her, their long wait for her participation, and their belief that this collaboration would result in an extraordinary outcome.

The actor firmly declared that he wouldn’t perform an encore after concluding his five-year stint on Empire. When Extra interviewed the Academy Award nominee about his plans prior to the musical drama series’ sixth and final season in 2019, he stated emphatically, “I’ve had enough of acting. I’m through with pretending.

Despite returning for a few productions, he declared his intentions to retire from acting while publicizing his Peacock series “The Best Man: The Final Chapters” in 2022. In conversation with ET, he said, “I’ve reached the stage where I believe I’ve given my finest as an actor. Now, I relish observing fresh talent emerge, and I don’t wish to mimic myself.”

Despite the previous remarks, it’s worth noting that Howard has made a comeback, appearing in several ventures since then. These include the TV show “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” and the Netflix movie “Shirley”, with more projects on the horizon for him in the future.

After King Joffrey’s unexpected, purple-tinted demise in 2014, the then 21-year-old actor, who portrayed him on ‘Game of Thrones’, announced he was leaving the acting profession. “I’ve been an actor since I was 8 years old,” he clarified about his choice to quit. “I simply wasn’t finding it as enjoyable as I once did.

Initially, acting was more of a pastime and a source of pleasure, shared with friends and during summer breaks. However, as he considers making a career out of it, the charm seems to fade slightly. As he put it, “Now that there’s an opportunity to make a living from it, it shifts from a casual activity to a profession. It doesn’t mean I dislike it; it’s just not the path I wish to follow.

Following a hiatus of six years, he was prepared to pick up where he left off, becoming part of the cast for BBC’s show titled “Out of Her Mind” in the year 2020.

In September 2020, when Jennifer Aniston, who played the dream girl in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, participated in a virtual table read, she had already been married to fellow actor Kevin Kline since 1989. They decided to work on different projects so as not to clash schedules while caring for their children, son Owen and daughter Greta (now known by her stage name Frankie Cosmos). As Kevin explained to Playboy, their plan was to take turns working to ensure they were never both busy at the same time.

In other words, whenever it’s been Phoebe’s turn to work, she has opted to stay with the kids. Despite making a brief appearance in Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 indie film “The Anniversary Party,” Cates primarily focuses on running her New York City boutique, Blue Tree.

In the peak of his popularity with “Ghostbusters” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” the ’80s actor chose to leave filmmaking shortly following his wife’s death from breast cancer in 1991, devoting himself instead to nurturing his children Rachel and Mitchell.

Despite not appearing in any live-action roles since 1997 and turning down a cameo in Paul Feig’s 2016 Ghostbusters remake, he continues to be a beloved cultural figure, as demonstrated by the uproar following news of his alleged assault while walking in New York City in October 1.

Fortunately, fans will be delighted to hear that he’s coming back with a bang, joining Josh Gad in the upcoming Disney remake titled “Shrunk”.

After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, the prominent actress from “Never Been Kissed” suggested that she might have grown weary of acting. She elaborated her feelings to Vogue, stating, “Ninety percent of acting roles demand a significant amount of intimate scenes with other actors, and I’m not interested in participating in that.” She further explained, “Engaging in such intimate situations is like walking through fire; it requires an extraordinary motivation, and my relationship is robust enough to endure it. However, there must be something exceptionally rewarding at the end of this fiery path for it to be worthwhile.

Her resolve became firm when her son Martin joined her older daughter Louisanna in 2014. In a conversation with Us Weekly at an event in 2016, she expressed that she has stepped away from the world of movies and now feels like an outsider. She stated, “I am just a mom and an outsider,” adding that she assists Kimmel with his business and occasionally paints as a hobby. She clarified that her main focus is on her children, which is primarily why she stopped pursuing movie projects.

She had watched “Ally McBeal”, followed by “Nip/Tuck”. After that, she moved on to “Arrested Development” and ultimately “Scandal”. At this point, the Australian woman thought she might be prepared for a change.

In her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2018, she expressed that as she was nearing 45, she found herself pondering if there was something new and difficult that she could undertake. She had a sense of what her acting career might look like for the next decade or two, so she decided to step away and start a business instead.

She still had one item left to complete for her consumer-focused art company, General Public, which was already under development.

I reached out to Mitch Hurwitz, the genius behind ‘Arrested Development’, and explained that if there’s another season, I won’t participate as an actor because I’ve retired from acting. He was very empathetic and completely understood my decision. We had a wonderful chat, and then he included me in five episodes.

After winning three Academy Awards, one might wonder what else there is left to achieve. Not long after earning his sixth Oscar nomination for his last film, “Phantom Thread” in 2017, the actor announced through his representative that he would no longer be pursuing acting roles. He expressed deep gratitude towards all of his collaborators and fans over the years. This decision was a personal one and neither he nor his representatives will provide any additional comments on this matter.

However, when he believed he had left it all behind, his son unexpectedly drew him back into the fold. In October 2024, production company Focus Features declared that the Oscar winner would be starring in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who will also direct this project.

In 2018, the actress who starred on “Good Luck Charlie” decided to focus less on the limelight and more on her education. She completed a master’s degree at MIT, followed by a PhD from the same institution. Currently, she is also studying towards a law degree at Harvard Law School.

Furthermore, not only did Bridgit achieve this, but she also established her personal company, Northwood Space, in March of 2023, serving as its CEO. This innovative venture intends to construct ground-based satellite stations for efficient data transmission between earth and space.
