In the popular soap opera, EastEnders, it has been confirmed that Rebecca ‘Bex’ Fowler is returning to Walford to pay her respects for the deceased Martin Fowler, her father.
On Monday, 24th February 2025, viewers can expect an emotional episode as Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) shares devastating news with Bex: her father Martin has sadly passed away. The entire town of Walford will be in mourning over this tragic loss.
In the forthcoming sequences, I find myself making a somber journey back to Albert Square, drawn by the need to be with my mother and loved ones during Martin’s funeral. The weight of recent events will bear heavily upon me as I grapple with the aftermath – from Sonia’s imprisonment for murder to the unexpected arrival of my new sister, Julia.
Jasmine Armfield is returning to play the character Bex once more in the EastEnders series, this time just temporarily, five years following her departure from the show in 2020.
Regarding Bex’s comeback, Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer of EastEnders, expressed his joy: “We’re thrilled to have Jasmine back in EastEnders for Martin’s goodbye. It’s impossible for Bex to skip her father’s funeral, and given the current situation, Sonia needs her eldest daughter more than ever.
Bex has been away exploring the world for five years now. When she returns, she will bring with her a fresh perspective and new experiences.
Five years back, Bex disappeared from Walford. She felt it was time for a change and chose to embark on a global journey instead of staying within the Square.
As I stepped back onto the set of EastEnders, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia. Familiar faces and cherished memories filled the air around me. Yet, for my character Bex Fowler, this return was anything but joyful. She’s been struck by an unbearable loss – her beloved father is gone.
Over the last few years, Bex has significantly matured due to her travels, thus we will encounter a far more mature and grown-up version of her on this occasion.
Not just Bex is making a comeback to Walford; it has been revealed that Bex’s cousin, Vicki Fowler, will also reappear for Uncle Martin’s funeral, accompanied by some fresh faces.
After an absence of 21 years, Vicki – now portrayed by Alice Haig – reappears accompanied by her new partner Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) and his son Joel (Max Murray). This unexpected return stirs up the residents of Walford, as they had believed she was still with her long-term love Spencer Moon.
