Atomfall, developed by Rebellion Developments known for their work on Sniper Elite, offers a distinctive post-nuclear survival action game adventure. It’s not bound by traditional quests but instead, your journey is heavily influenced by exploration and observing the unfolding events around you.
In the development phase, Ben Fisher, our lead designer, hinted at some innovative experiments that won’t be found elsewhere. On VideoGamer’s forthcoming podcast episode, Fisher explained, “We dared to push the creative principles we aimed for as far as possible, so there are some experimental elements that you wouldn’t attempt elsewhere due to uncertainty about the outcome.
The experimentation involved in Atomfall is so unconventional that even Fisher isn’t fully confident it will be successful. To put it another way: There are some questionable decisions in the game Atomfall. Certain events can be triggered or overlooked by the player, which can significantly impact the enemy population and other aspects of the game world…It could end up being effective, but it might not… I’m eager to see how it all plays out.
As a devoted fan, I find the concept of shaping enemy populations intriguing, particularly in light of games like Bethesda’s Fallout 4, where you can virtually wipe out most factions. It leaves me wondering just how far Rebellion will push these boundaries. The possibilities are exhilarating, especially considering all the evolutionary stages it underwent during development.
The game titled “Atomfall” is set to debut on March 27th across platforms including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. You can watch this trailer to get a glimpse of the game’s mechanics, setting, and adversaries.
