Maitland Ward and Danielle Fishel meet the root of their feud.
In the most recent installment of “Pod Meets World” – the “Boy Meets World” podcast co-hosted by Danielle (Topanga Lawrence), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) – Maitland (Rachel McGuire) and Danielle revisited their long-standing disagreement.
In a heated discussion, it was revealed that Maitland had issues with Danielle not just during the filming of the Boy Meets World series in the late 90s, but their disagreement escalated around 2014, particularly during the premiere of Girl Meets World. Interestingly, while Danielle, Will, Rider, and Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) all featured on episodes of the spinoff that starred Sabrina Carpenter and Rowan Blanchard, Maitland only took part in off-camera cast reunions.
Maitland stated, “It seemed to me like you disliked me, as you never spoke to me during our Girl Meets World outings, and that silence was painful.
Incredulously, Danielle shot back, “I wouldn’t speak to you? I did talk to you.”
However, Maitland remained firm and counter-accused Danielle of removing their Facebook friendship, an allegation that Danielle too refuted.
Danielle made it clear that she’s not a frequent user of Facebook. She attempted to mend the relationship in 2022, after learning from Will that Maitland had sent her a message years ago. “I logged into my account, realized we weren’t friends there,” she explained. “I can’t recall when our friendship ended on Facebook or if it ever did. I found your message in the archive of messages, and upon seeing it, I felt quite remorseful.
Danielle, who has sons Adler (age 5) and Keaton (age 3) with her husband Jensen Karp, revealed that Maitland had sent a message congratulating her on her show “Girl Meets World” and her 2013 engagement to Tim Belusko, her former spouse. Additionally, Danielle claimed that Maitland was trying to create drama for the podcast “Pod Meets World”.
Danielle said, “I was quite taken aback by how thoughtful your message was.” She then asked Will, “Could you kindly ask Maitland if I could have her contact information so I can make amends with her?” However, instead of granting her request, you replied to Will, “Let’s hold off on that. It would be excellent for the podcast audience and ratings.
Maitland argued that she wasn’t aware her podcast conversation would be developed over many years. Additionally, she shared an anecdote about inviting Danielle to her wedding in 2006, only to experience frosty treatment from her later on the Girl Meets World production set.
Maitland clarified that you seemed to have a certain vibe towards it,” he said. ” frankly, I sensed tension between us due to something unresolved. Perhaps I misread your intentions, but undeniably, there was an odd or uncomfortable atmosphere.
Danielle shared that working on the “Girl Meets World” set was stressful for her and she felt excluded there. The 43-year-old admitted that her comments about the show’s atmosphere might have seemed aimed at Maitland, but she apologized for any misunderstanding. However, Maitland responded, “Understand, Danielle, you weren’t pleased that I was receiving a lot of attention and taking time away from it.
Danielle deadpanned back, “I was on the cover of Maxim in 2014.”
Maitland’s remarks sparked a lively debate until she clarified that her initial assumption reflected Danielle’s feelings then, but now she doesn’t feel the same way.
Danielle acknowledged, “Understood.” She apologized for any misunderstanding, as our life experiences are unique yet equally valid to each other.
However, it seems the issue wasn’t fully resolved. After further discussions on the hosts’ connections with Ben and the creator of Boy Meets World, Michael Jacobs, Maitland stated, “Let’s call a spade a spade; you’re confronting me now because of the ratings and due to public curiosity.
To which Danielle responded, “No Maitland, I’m not the one who wanted to go for ratings.”
In the end, Danielle and Maitland didn’t see eye-to-eye when Maitland departed, but they managed a cordial farewell. “It was enjoyable to look back,” Danielle remarked at Maitland’s departure. “To revisit the good times, as well as the challenging ones.

Savage played Cory Matthews on Boy Meets World, which anchored ABC’s TGIF lineup from 1993 to 2000.
In 2004, he graduated from Stanford with a political science degree and later appeared on TV shows such as “Party of Five” and “Chuck”, along with some independent films. He then reunited with his TV co-star Danielle Fishel for the 2014 Disney Channel spin-off of their show, titled “Girl Meets World”.
Following its conclusion in 2017, Savage (the brother of Fred Savage, who starred in “The Wonder Years”) has been featured on various series such as “The Leftovers”, “Speechless”, “Criminal Minds” (portraying a younger version of Jason Gideon), and “Homeland” (as young Saul, which represents his second role playing a character younger than Mandy Patinkin’s). Although he hasn’t made an appearance on their podcast “Pod Meets World”, Savage and Fishel reconnected in 2021 for a humorous take on a romantic comedy promoting the ideal lunch spot, Panera Bread.
For quite some time, my Instagram posts hinted at a partner who was wedding-ready, yet I maintained her identity as a private matter. However, the moment I proposed in March 2023 and announced it publicly, I revealed that my longtime love is Tessa Angermeier.
In both 2022 and 2024, Savage attempted but failed to secure positions on the West Hollywood City Council and U.S. Congress, respectively.
From playing Topanga Lawrence (later Matthews) on ‘Boy Meets World’ and ‘Girl Meets World’, Fishel, who shared her first on-screen kiss with Ben Savage, largely portrayed herself on television. Her roles included being a correspondent on ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ and hosting Style Network’s ‘The Dish’. At the age of 27, she returned to college and graduated in 2012.
She initially encountered her first spouse, Tim Belusko, at school. They stayed married for a period of two years before choosing to part ways amicably in 2016 without any public fanfare. Later in the year 2018, she tied the knot with Drop the Mic host, Jensen Karp. The ceremony was attended by her former co-stars Savage (who extended his congratulations to his preferred TV wife on her engagement) and Will Friedle.
In June 2019, Fishel and Karp were blessed with a son named Adler, followed by the arrival of their second child, Keaton, in August 2021. This stylish actress further expanded her professional horizons by introducing a hair care line, Be Free by Danielle Fishel. Subsequently, she continued to make her mark in the director’s chair, overseeing episodes for Disney Channel productions such as Sydney to the Max, Raven’s Home, and both versions of Lopez vs. Lopez.
As an over-the-moon fan, I’ve got to share that I’m part of this incredible podcast journey called “Pod Meets World,” where I get to hang out with none other than Danielle Fishel and the legendary duo, Eric Friedle and Rider Strong! In a heartfelt episode from August 2024, Danielle revealed her personal battle – she was diagnosed with DCIS, a type of breast cancer often referred to as “technically stage zero.” This amazing woman is facing this challenge with grace and courage!
She assured them, “I’ll be alright. I’m scheduled for a surgery to get rid of it. Afterwards, I’ll need some additional care.
Following his role as Shawn Hunter on “Boy Meets World”, Strong gained significant attention, particularly for his parts in Eli Roth’s 2002 horror sleeper hit “Cabin Fever” and its 2009 sequel. He also starred in the brief-running sitcom “Pepper Dennis” and provided the voice for Brick Flagg in the animated series “Kim Possible”. Later, he reprised his role as Shawn in seven episodes of “Girl Meets World”.
Apart from his acting prowess, Strong has also ventured behind the scenes, penning, directing, and producing a number of short films, as well as the 2017 TV movie “Micah the Jerk” Ghost, which he made with his brother Shiloh Strong. Their collaboration continued in “Typhoon—We’re In It,” a project that received the Best Music Video award at the Vortex Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Horror Film Festival in October 2022.
In 2013, Strong married Alexandra Barreto and their son, Indigo, was born in December 2014.
In a return to his role as Eric Matthews on “Girl Meets World”, Friedle has since made his voice omnipresent in various animated series such as “Kim Possible”, “Teen Titans Go!”, “DC Super Hero Girls”, Disney XD’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” (as Star Lord Peter Quill), and “The Legend of Vox Machina”.
Prior to attending the wedding of Fishel and Karp, he had served as best man at the 2004 wedding of “Step by Step” star Jason Marsden, marking a high point in TGIF cross-over programming. In December 2019, he was spotted wearing a T-shirt adorned with the face of Topanga, a stylish nod to his future podcast partner’s hair care line.
Friedle married Susan Martens in 2016.
Daniel, who won two Emmys for his role in St. Elsewhere and was the original cast member of 1776, as well as the voice behind K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, gained a new wave of admirers by portraying Mr. Feeny on Boy Meets World.
Following his tenure as Screen Actors Guild president from 1999 to 2001, Daniels went on to feature in numerous television shows such as Scrubs, Boston Legal, The Closer, and Grey’s Anatomy in 2012. Now aged 97, his last physical acting role was playing Mr. Feeny again on Girl Meets World. He still attends fan conventions, but he also lent his voice to K.I.T.T. for the 2020 movie Superintelligence.
This New York-born individual has been wedded to the actress Bonnie Bartlett since 1951, and they are proud parents of two sons.
Following “Boy Meets World,” the Chicago-born actor is most recognized for portraying Mrs. Winterbourne on “Charmed” and made appearances in several episodes of “Girl Meets World” reprising her role as Amy Matthews, Cory and Eric’s mom.
In real life she’s mom to daughter Jessica and son Aaron with editor husband John Randle.
Russ, known for movies like “The Right Stuff” and “American History X,” has continued to maintain a bustling acting career following his role as Alan Matthews on “Boy Meets World.” He’s been seen on shows such as “Boston Legal,” “The Young and the Restless,” “90210,” “Colony,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Bosch,” “9-1-1,” and “Animal Kingdom.” More recently, he reunited with his TV wife Betsy Randle on “Girl Meets World.
Behind the scenes he’s dad to a son and daughter with wife Clare Wren.
According to Looper, Strong stated at Wizard World Comic Con that Minkus was removed from the show because the popularity of Steve Urkel from “Family Matters” overshadowed it, and the creators of “Boy Meets World” decided against further emphasizing comedic nerdiness.
Beginning as child actor Chuckie Lee on the sitcom “The Torkelsons,” Norris later attended Wake Forest University. He then portrayed Marvin “Mouth” McFadden, a small-screen geek, in the long-running drama series “One Tree Hill” on The CW. More recently, he reprised his role as Minkus for several episodes of “Girl Meets World.” Since then, he has made appearances on a few episodes of “The Walking Dead,” worked with director David Fincher in “Zodiac” and “Gone Girl,” and starred alongside Tom Hanks in the 2020 WWII action drama “Greyhound.
He’s been married to wife Andrea since 2011.
Ever since I first saw him as Jack Hunter, Shawn’s older half-brother in “Mrs. Doubtfire,” I’ve been hooked! You know who else he starred alongside? The real-life brothers Andrew and Joey Lawrence, in the sitcom “Brotherly Love.” He’s also graced numerous independent films and made appearances on popular shows like “Boston Public,” “CSI: Miami,” “Workaholics,” “Melissa and Joey,” and even “Hawaii 5-0.”
But
On May 23, 2019, Lawrence tied the knot with professional dancer Cheryl Burke, who is famous for her work on “Dancing With the Stars.” They had known each other since 13 years prior, having dated following a brief separation of ten years. This was when she was partnered with his brother Joey on the show. However, their marriage ended in 2022, and Lawrence is currently in a relationship with TLC singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas.
Ever since McGee graced our screens in those TV movies and fleeting series, I’ve been hooked! It was pure joy when she reprised her role as Angela in an episode of Girl Meets World. Admittedly, the way her character left Boy Meets World wasn’t exactly perfect, but that didn’t stop me from cherishing her return to my TV screen.
On “Pod Meets World” in 2022, McGee disclosed to Fishel, Strong, and Friedle that she had been informed that they, specifically, had requested their showrunner not to include her in the 2000 series finale. This led to Angela’s unexpected departure for Europe while everyone else was wrapping up loose ends.
Friedel firmly denied any such incident occurring, while McGee expressed regret over any tension in their relationship with Fishel during the show’s duration, suggesting they could have supported each other better. Fishel concurred, stating they had an opportunity to assist one another.
Previously wedded to Courtland Davis, McGee has returned to the fan-convention circle and once again joined forces with the previously mentioned group for Daniels’ 96th birthday on March 31, 2023. She is also a singer, artist, and mother of Ramia, Langston, and Ezra.
2024 saw McGee revealing her anticipation for her fourth child at the age of 54. However, later in the same year, she disclosed that she had experienced a miscarriage.
McGee admitted during an episode of The Tamron Hall Show in September that he had sadly miscarried. This wasn’t something we were expecting, as it happened towards the end of the first trimester. Unfortunately, we don’t have a clear explanation for why this occurred.
Following her role as Rachel McGuire in “Boy Meets World”, Ward later starred alongside Marlon and Shawn Wayans in the 2004 comedy “White Chicks”. Interestingly, she then went on to earn three AVN awards after debuting in the adult film industry with “Drive” in 2019.
In an interview with The Daily Beast in April 2021, she shared that she discovered her affection for acting in intimate scenes, likening it to being part of a dance or ice skating duo. She expressed her enthusiasm, stating that it’s like working on a magnificent art project, and she truly enjoys the experience.
Furthermore, this strategy has proven successful for her, given that she is a 2023 AVN Best Actress award recipient and an author who penned the memoir titled “Rated X.
Since 2006, she’s been married to Terry Baxter. In an interview with In Touch Weekly in January 2020, she shared that her real estate agent husband also happens to be a talented photographer. She mentioned, “He has even taken photos of me throughout our journey.
Initially, from 1993 to 1995, Nicksay portrayed Cory and Eric’s little sister in two Morgan Matthews series. Later, she landed a part in the romantic drama “Up Close and Personal,” starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Redford.
Throughout her childhood, the actress made appearances on several television series, such as The Mentalist, 8 Simple Rules, Judging Amy, and eventually reprised her role as Morgan in the 2017 final episode of Girl Meets World.
Since her marriage to songwriter Dave Gibson in 2015, she has been known as Lily Gibson. This name was used for her on an episode of NCIS in 2019 and in the 2021 film Four Cousins & a Christmas.
Following what seemed like the longest nap anyone could possibly have, Morgan emerged from a different part of the house, appearing noticeably older and transformed after a whole year.
From 1996 until the series ended in 2000, Ridgeway assumed Morgan’s role. In June 2007, she completed her undergraduate studies at UC Riverside and later earned a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Redlands in 2010. Apart from acting, she is also a singer, having performed the national anthem at various sports events across Los Angeles. Part-time, she worked for the Los Angeles Kings hockey team as part of their Ice Crew.
She also came back as Morgan for the Girl Meets World finale.
Lauren got between Cory and Topanga for a mercifully brief four-episode arc.
After graduating from Boy Meets World, Cardellini moved on to the regrettably brief series Freaks and Geeks. Following that, she had an action-packed career which included Scooby-Doo, ER, Brokeback Mountain, Mad Men (earning an Emmy nomination for her guest role in a drama series), New Girl, and Bloodline on Netflix. She also became part of the Marvel Universe as Clint/Hawkeye’s wife, starred in the 2019 Best Picture Oscar winner Green Book, and was both an actress and producer on the Netflix dark comedy Dead to Me (earning nominations for the 2020 Emmys for Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy).
The actress is mom to daughter Lilah-Rose with longtime partner Steven Rodriguez.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but marvel at Suplee’s impressive resume! From his gripping portrayal of Frankie “The Enforcer” Stechino in shows like American History X and Remember the Titans, to his hilarious role as Randy Hickey on all four seasons of My Name Is Earl, Suplee has truly left an indelible mark. Not only did he grace Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street with his presence, but he also brought laughter to The Ranch on Netflix. His talent extended to Edward Norton’s noir drama, Motherless Brooklyn, and the thought-provoking horror-satire, The Hunt. Truly, Suplee’s work never ceases to amaze me!
Suplee is set to embark on several upcoming ventures, one of which involves revisiting the world of Kevin Smith as part of the confirmed production titled “Twilight of the Mallrights.
Since 2006, Suplee has been in marriage with Brandy Lewis, and they have two kids together as a family. Moreover, a picture he shared of his transformed physique following a struggle to shed weight and improve health in January 2020 gained immense popularity online. Ever since then, Suplee has become an ardent promoter of fitness and nutrition.
Following his stint as a substitute bully, Griff Hawkins, Scott transformed into an all-around charming and humorous individual, complete with the odd sarcastic remark and a melancholic, midlife-crisis stricken married man to add depth to his character.
Among his most notable works are the emotionally charged HBO series “Tell Me You Love Me”; the popular comedy “Step Brothers”; the long-awaited revival of “Party Down” on Starz; the widely admired “Parks and Recreation”; the consistently amusing “The Greatest Event in Television History” on Adult Swim; the sequels “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later” and “The Good Place”; and the critically acclaimed “Big Little Lies”. His first Golden Globe and Emmy nominations came from his portrayal of a grieving widower, or is it? In Apple TV+’s psychological drama “Severance”.
In real life Scott has two kids with Naomi Sablan, his wife since 2005.
As a lifestyle expert, I vividly remember the moment when Jonathan Turner, the leather-jacketed, motorcycle-riding cool teacher portrayed by Quinn, was brought onto the show. This was during the time when “Friends” skyrocketed in popularity, and it was that success that essentially paved the way for his inclusion. ABC, recognizing the growing trend of incorporating twentysomethings into their programming, even on a kids’ show like ours that mainly appealed to teenagers, decided to seize this opportunity.
Yet, Shawn was deeply saddened when Mr. Turner got into a motorcycle accident at the end of season four – an incident that was not depicted on-screen but resulted in his absence until he reappeared on “Girl Meets World”, having married a nurse he had met during his recovery from the hospital after the crash.
During this time, Quinn made appearances on Melrose Place for four years, starred in Pretty Little Liars in 2012, and showed up on Feud: Betty and Joan in 2017.
He’s been married to Margaret Quinn since 1985 and they have two children.
