Game Source Entertainment, along with TVT and Ratata Arts, have unveiled a fresh gameplay trailer for the rhythmic, rogue-like action game titled “Ratatan“.
Here is an overview of the game, via Game Source Entertainment:
Ratatan is a game that blends rhythm and side-scrolling action, allowing up to four players to team up in online multiplayer mode. Players vanquish adversaries by transmitting instructions via an engaging soundtrack to the Cobuns, creating a fun-filled journey with exhilarating battles seamlessly woven into rhythm and action sequences.
As a devoted fan, I’d express it like this: “I’m immersed in ‘Ratatan’, a rhythmic, roguelike action game that I’ve been captivated by! It’s a collaboration between Hiroyuki Kotani, the genius behind the acclaimed PSP series ‘PATAPON’ back in 2007, and Tokyo Virtual Theory (TVT). In this game, I embody the Ratatan character, leading Cobun’s armies with my magical instruments, commanding them to engage and vanquish our foes.
Beyond just attack and defense patterns, the Ratatan characters possess unique movements that enable them to navigate freely. Each character has distinct abilities, which adds a rich musical layer to the game. As players successfully match the rhythm sequences, they’ll trigger “fever mode,” during which the background music dynamically adjusts, and the characters execute various actions.
In addition, the game Ratatan includes the well-liked Roguelike system, where during each journey, Ratatan along with its Cobun obtain distinct power-ups and bonuses in every encounter. This means that each playthrough offers unique experiences, as these power-ups introduce a range of diverse effects and expand the gameplay options.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that Nelnal’s artistic touch as the game illustrator and character designer has significantly enhanced RATATAN’s visual appeal. This updated version boasts improved graphics and an expanded roster of characters compared to its predecessor. But that’s not all! New content has been introduced, such as a fresh system and multiplayer mini-games. What truly excites me is the use of TVT’s “Theory Engine,” ensuring a swift and stable online multiplayer experience for all players.
Ratatan is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam in 2025.
