In the most recent installment of “One Piece”, we’re treated to another round of unexpected events. In Chapter 1130, Luffy crosses paths with Loki. Loki, who is admired by the young Yonko, brings up Shanks. Noticing Luffy’s desire to meet Shanks, Loki proposes a bargain: Luffy will release him from his chains, and in return, Loki will share all he knows about the Red-Hair Pirate. Currently, Loki is bound in the Underworld for having murdered his father, the beloved King Harald of Elbaf. Since his birth, Loki has been causing nothing but trouble for the villagers. However, his act of killing Harald was the final straw that led to his capture by a united front.
Six years ago, I witnessed a formidable encounter as Shanks subdued Loki, a figure roaming the seas. Since then, Loki has been confined, under the watchful eye of Scopper Gaban – a trusted member of the Pirate King’s crew and one who made it to Laughtale. After Roger’s execution, Gaban settled in Elbaf, married Ripley, and now their twenty-year-old son, Collun, awaits. In Chapter 1140 of One Piece, the scene unfolds where Luffy takes on Gaban to claim the key to Loki’s cuffs.
One Piece Chapter 1140 Concludes the Battle Between Luffy and Gaban for Loki’s Key
In this encounter, the fight appeared more like a playful skirmish rather than a genuine conflict, with neither party appearing overly committed. Despite not utilizing his Gear 5 form yet, Gaban persistently assaulted Luffy. Overwhelmed by Gaban’s astonishing power, Zoro grew anxious and intervened to aid Luffy. Simultaneously, Luffy too began to show determination and transformed. Upon witnessing Luffy’s stunning Nika form, Gaban commented on its white hue as predicted. Recognizing the might of this form, he promptly surrendered before Luffy and Zoro could launch an attack. In the world of One Piece, Gaban yielded his key to Loki under these circumstances.
In the heat of the battle, I couldn’t help but feel like Zoro’s presence had made Gaban reconsider his chances. It seemed as though he had already conceded defeat before things took a turn for the worst. Yet, Gaban’s unyielding demeanor hinted that he wasn’t truly intent on engaging in a serious fight with Luffy. Instead, it appeared he was merely testing the limits of Luffy’s might, using the key as a pretext. Remarkably, even during our first encounter, Luffy managed to win my trust.
It appears that Shanks has discussed the young pirate known as the Yonko extensively during his last visit to Elbaf, and this is someone Luffy wasn’t previously acquainted with. Gaban believes Luffy will make the correct decision and manage even the most dire circumstances if he decides to free Loki. Loki possesses powers that are beyond measurement, and even Gaban acknowledges that only Shanks has the ability to contain him. Despite this, Gaban did not hesitate in giving Luffy the key.
Beyond their initial encounter, it appears Shanks’ meeting with him sparked expectations that events would unfold as such. Given Gaban’s understanding of the world’s past and the prophecy, he likely understands Luffy’s significance in this grand scheme. With war looming on the horizon, Luffy seems destined to be at its heart. It’s not surprising that Gaban might be intrigued by Luffy’s hidden abilities and eagerly awaiting the manifestation of his Nika form in the world of One Piece.
