Oceanic survival first-person shooter The Last Caretaker announced for consoles, PC

Channel37, a game developer based in Helsinki, has unveiled their upcoming project titled “The Last Caretaker“, which is an oceanic survival first-person shooter. This game will be available for purchase through Steam and Epic Games Store on PC this summer during Early Access. A complete version of the game will follow approximately 12 months later, with plans to release it not only on PC but also on unspecified consoles.

Here is an overview of the game, via its store pages:

About

Experience a first-person journey through an everlasting sea realm, where exploration, resource gathering, and reconstruction are key elements. Gather forgotten technology, construct essential systems, and safeguard the continuity of humankind – before it’s all gone.

As I stir back to life after centuries in slumber, I find myself as the Last Guardian – a solitary machine in a world that’s become eerily quiet. The Earth is submerged, its colossal structures corroded under an endless sky. The Seed Vaults stand tall, housing the last remnants of human life – waiting to be reborn. My purpose is unambiguous: retrieve the seeds, ignite the Lazarus Complex, and propel the final fragments of humanity towards the cosmos.

However, appearances can be deceiving, for the world is far from barren. Echoes of ancient procedures hum through machines, remnants of yesteryears stride with intent, and each footfall propels you further along the path toward understanding the purpose of your being.

Key Features

  • Explore – Sail across a vast open-world ocean, navigating through the remains of a forgotten civilization. From towering megastructures and flickering beacons to abandoned seed vaults and fuel stations, every location holds lost knowledge, vital resources, and pieces of a mystery waiting to be uncovered.
  • Create – Scavenge and restore ancient technology, craft modular upgrades, and reactivate vital systems to rebuild MOSES infrastructure. Each innovation brings humanity closer to survival, from reviving power grids to reconstructing launch systems.
  • Nurture – The Lazarus Complex is the last human sanctuary. Monitor and optimize the delicate process of human seed growth, balancing power, nutrition, and memory reconstruction. Every launch to the stars brings humanity one step closer to a future beyond the ocean.
  • Survive – The ocean is beautiful—but it is not safe. Rogue machines, brutal storms, and limited resources challenge your mission at every turn. Adapt, upgrade, and fight to protect what little remains.
  • Discover – You are not human, yet you hold their future in your hands. What does it mean to be human? Can life be reborn through synthetic hands? As you explore, you will uncover the last days of Earth—and the truth behind your existence.
