Katsuhiro Harada, the Tekken series’ main boss, enjoys engaging on social media platforms, and he has been actively responding to comments after the unveiling of Anna Williams earlier in the week.
In our recent article, it was mentioned that we appreciate Harada’s latest design and hair color. However, the article also highlighted a case where Harada responded strongly to a fan who appeared less enthused about her makeover.
The poster expressed disapproval about the updated layout, saying “I find the revised appearance disappointing.” Also, they felt that substituting Anna with a new character might be developers’ retaliation against long-time Anna supporters, which left them feeling melancholic.
Harada started out quite sympathetic, before taking the fan to task.
He acknowledged and shared your feelings about the older design, but emphasized that there were previous designs available for you if you preferred them. However, he clarified that he wasn’t planning on removing those options from your access.
He went on to say: “You call yourselves ‘fans of Anna,’ making it seem like you speak for everyone who admires her, but remember to voice your own opinions as individuals.
You’ve made it clear that you’ll leave if she isn’t returned. As soon as she comes back, you voice your dissatisfaction. You’re asking for her to be restored after a full overhaul – not just her appearance and structure, but also her underlying system. If she were indeed reverted, you’d dismiss it as merely recycling.
It seems as if Harada is overstating things for emphasis, but it often feels challenging for game developers to please some specific groups of people at times.
Harada made it clear that your approach to sharing your viewpoint, as well as the substance of your argument, is not only destructive but also irrelevant and, most importantly, disregardful towards the other Anna fans who eagerly anticipate her.
