After 31 remarkable years with Sony, Shuhei Yoshida has bid farewell to the company and embarked on a new journey. He’s not entirely stepping away from the gaming world, but he’s relishing his fresh independence. Lately, you might have heard him sharing his honest thoughts on various podcasts.
In an interview with the Japanese publication Gamer.ne.jp, he mentioned that having more independence would make him happy if Nintendo’s Kyoto headquarters extended an invitation to him.
“I’ve never been,” he exclaimed. “I’d love to visit someday!”
During his tenure managing PlayStation’s independent developer program, Yoshida built a strong connection with Yusuke Soejima, who holds a comparable position at Nintendo.
He noted that these two platforms are equally devoted to “boosting and making indie games more well-known,” which means they don’t view each other as fierce competitors to the degree some enthusiasts might anticipate.
