TV Legend Henry Kelly Passes Away at 78: A Heartfelt Goodbye

As a devoted cinephile, I’m deeply saddened to share that Henry Kelly, a renowned TV presenter and journalist in our film community, has passed away at the venerable age of 78. His family has confirmed this heartbreaking news.

Kelly gained recognition as the hostess of numerous TV shows, such as Going for Gold and Game for a Laugh.

According to a statement issued by his family, he passed away tranquilly, leaving behind many who will deeply miss him.

Henry will deeply be mourned by his loved ones such as his partner Karolyn Shindler, their son Alexander, his daughter Siobhan, and her mother Marjorie.” (via BBC News)

Originally from Ireland, Kelly later made a name for himself as a prosperous journalist. During his time at university, he contributed articles to The Irish Times. Upon completing his studies, he was appointed as their Northern Editor based in Belfast.

Following her departure from the newspaper, Kelly relocated to London and quickly transitioned into television work. In 1981, she landed a co-host role on ITV’s Game for a Laugh, and later became the weekend host of Good Morning Britain alongside Toni Arthur.

Throughout his professional journey, Kelly hosted the daytime trivia show “Going for Gold” on BBC One for ten seasons, made appearances as a quiz master in the sitcom “dinnerladies”, and frequently graced our screens on Sky News, critiquing the weekend newspapers.

In 1992, his job led him onto radio broadcasts, and he became one of the initial hosts for Classic FM. Over time, he worked at LBC, BBC Radio London, and BBC Radio Berkshire.
