Anticipation runs high among global gaming enthusiasts regarding potential updates on Grand Theft Auto 6. Whispers about partnerships between Rockstar and notable figures like Taylor Swift and other Hollywood celebrities have stirred up unease within the GTA community.
Rockstar has consistently valued teamwork with lesser-recognized voice actors to maintain high standards in their video games, a practice that took root following a difficult encounter with Ray Liotta during the production of ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’. His unpredictable conduct during development allegedly prompted them to reconsider their casting strategies.
As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but share an intriguing observation from Director Navid Khonsari regarding the enigmatic actor Ray Liotta. In his words, “Liotta could be challenging to collaborate with. At times, he was fully immersed in the scene, but other instances, he seemed to plunge into a somber depth and found it hard to perform.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2013, Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar, expressed a similar thought, noting that Liotta’s involvement in the project fluctuated from one session to another, thereby bringing intricacy to the overall process. These interactions may have played a role in Rockstar’s subsequent choice to cast lesser-known but exceptionally talented actors for key roles in their future productions.
Occasionally, they’ve granted exceptions, choosing to cast familiar faces in secondary roles instead of main characters. For instance, in Red Dead Redemption 2, Graham Greene, known for his work in Dances with Wolves, played Chief Rains Fall. Yet, unless you specifically look for these names, most Rockstar voice actors tend to remain less recognized. They often achieve fame following their roles in the GTA series or other games like Steven Ogg (Trevor Philips from GTA V) and Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2).
It’s undeniable: Rockstar hasn’t made a big deal about promoting this method, nor have they relied on fame to sell their games. Instead, they’ve always emphasized raw talent over inflated celebrity images as part of their creative philosophy—but that might be shifting now.
Rockstar’s New Tune: Mega-Celebs and Fortnite Cash Grabs
Just as it has been noted for music enthusiasts, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is renowned for its exceptional in-game radio stations filled with a mix of popular and lesser-known tracks. This carefully selected playlist strikes a harmonious balance between mainstream success and underground recognition. However, the once-glowing reputation of these radio stations seems to be dimming now.
It’s reported that Rockstar has dedicated an entire radio station in GTA 6 to DJ Khaled.
Absolutely correct, as reported by Dexerto back in February 2025, it’s indeed him, the renowned “We the Best” shouter.

While it may appear that this strategy of nurturing less recognized talents instead of famous stars is not a major global issue, there are other whispers and speculations circulating as well.
It’s rumored that Rockstar could have negotiated agreements with Taylor Swift, who is as ubiquitous as an infectious tune, and streamers like Adin Ross, for them to advertise the game and possibly feature in it. However, these speculations remain unverified, given that Rockstar’s non-disclosure agreement is as tight as a librarian holding on to overdue fines. Such contracts would make even the Devil tip his hat in admiration of their legal department’s ironclad control over potential collaborators.
Additionally, another intriguing tidbit has surfaced: it’s being whispered that Rockstar might be collaborating with Fortnite. The speculation revolves around the possibility of integrating GTA 6 into their popular battle-royale game in some way – perhaps through a Vice City-themed cosmetic pack or a joint venture within their virtual worlds, but only time will tell!
And, of all things, Roblox.

In February 2025, I learned through Digiday’s report that Rockstar has been engaging with leading creators of Fortnite and Roblox regarding the development of unique experiences. It seems they might leverage their FiveM acquisition to transform Grand Theft Auto 6 into an extraordinary user-generated playground.
This raises a peculiar suspicion that the original pioneers of Rockstar Games, known for their gritty humor and rebellious spirit, may have completely vanished. What’s more unsettling is the possibility that Grand Theft Auto 6 might not live up to the high expectations we’ve built around it. After all, when has Rockstar collaborated amicably with rivals or catered to celebrities whose egos are so inflated they’d require Mount Rushmore to be resculpted with their likenesses?
The game, which previously satirized and criticized American celebrities and U.S. culture quite harshly, may have lost its edge if these reports are accurate. If these deals are indeed true, it’s likely that the celebrities involved will ensure that Rockstar doesn’t make fun of them without their explicit permission – a requirement probably written in gold on a contract as thick as their oversized sense of entitlement.
Has Rockstar Finally Sold Its Soul?
In our prior discussion, we’ve expressed concerns that Grand Theft Auto 6 might be veering towards a creative compromise often referred to as “the decay of entertainment” in media circles.

It appears that one persistent issue stifles creative expression – an overwhelming emphasis on overly optimistic sentiment, often referred to as “toxic positivity”. This mindset is pervasive in many film and game production companies who are overly cautious about potential offenses. With celebrities like DJ Khaled and Taylor Swift reportedly joining forces with Rockstar, it seems they’re grasping at straws to increase their popularity, suggesting that Rockstar may be struggling.
The old adage requires an update: don’t be afraid of the gamer who seeks refuge in the unknown for a while, but rather be wary of the self-important celebrity who tries to force their distorted perception of reality upon you—spreading self-righteousness from their privileged positions, telling you what to believe, and inhaling their own inflated sense of importance.
