In honor of Pokemon Day 2025, Pokemon has introduced a unique new anime called “Dragonite and the Mailman.” This special episode offers a fresh perspective on the Pokemon universe by focusing on a young postal worker who was influenced by a dedicated Dragonite she encountered in her youth. The skilled animators at CoMix Wave Films, known for their exceptional anime productions, have brought this exciting new Pokemon anime special to life. You can catch it in the video provided above.
What Is Dragonite and the Special Delivery?
In 2025, the film “Dragonite and the Postman” was unveiled in celebration of Pokemon Day, with Taku Kimura at the helm as director and CoMix Wave Films responsible for the animation. Kentaro Nana penned the screenplay, while Asuka Dokai took charge of character design, and Maho Aoki served as the animation director. Tasuku Watanabe handled the art direction, and Evan Call composed the music. The theme song for this special is called “Paper Airplane,” sung by suis from Yorushika × Evan Call. In the Paldea region, Hana – a young girl with dreams of becoming an exceptional postman, idolizing Dragonite the postman dragon – receives a letter without an address one day and finds herself on a thrilling chase to find its sender. Accompanied by her companion Fuecoco, she eventually tracks down the sender, a fellow named Rio. Upon learning the story behind the letter, Hana discovers it was penned by Rio as a birthday celebration for his father who was working alone in the Kanto region. However, that day just happened to be Rio’s father’s actual birthday itself…
With regards to CoMix Wave Films, renowned creator Makoto Shinkai unveiled last year that he has been secretly working on a fresh feature film project. However, at the time of this article’s release, specifics about his new creation remain undisclosed. Shinkai hinted that an exciting update regarding the movie might surface sometime in 2022, so fans should stay vigilant as the year unfolds for potential updates on this highly anticipated project.
