The novel platform known as Ludocene is designed to tackle a particular issue. Its developers refer to it as a gaming-oriented dating app, where the concept revolves around matching users with games they’re likely to enjoy once their preferences are understood.
The system is straightforward – you create a ‘library’ of games you enjoy. Then, you can choose an advisor whose preferences align with yours, with well-known figures such as Simon Parkin from the New Yorker and Christian Donlan from Eurogamer available.
After making your choices, the platform will suggest games tailored to your preferences for you to consider. As more games are released and the system gains a better understanding of your tastes, the recommendations will become increasingly personalized.
One interesting feature is that premium users can inform the app about their PS Plus subscription tier, and it will suggest games accessible through their membership. Given that PS Plus Premium offers approximately 1,000 games, this could prove extremely helpful.
Currently, the project known as Ludocene is undergoing development and requires a modest boost to cross the final hurdle. At present, the developers are attempting to gather £26,000 through Kickstarter to see it through to completion, with an already achieved sum of £9,300 at the time this text was written.
The app, upon completion, plans to become available for free for all users in the future. However, individuals who backed the £20 level will receive a one-year subscription that includes PS Plus features and additional benefits.
