Sony has announced new price points for PSVR2, its current-gen virtual reality tech for PS5.
According to a post on their blog, the price of the headset will be substantially lowered, and this new pricing scheme will take effect from the beginning of next month, which is March 2025.
The PlayStation VR2 is available in two options: one includes a voucher for Horizon Call of the Mountain, and another doesn’t. From now on, both versions will be priced at approximately $399.99, £399.99, or €449.99, which is roughly equivalent to the retail price of the initial PSVR.
As a gamer, I was quite taken aback when I learned that the initial suggested retail price (RRP) for PSVR2 was $549.99/£529.99/€599.99. But now, hearing about this price cut, it feels like a significant relief to my wallet!
Sony asserts that presently, there’s no better opportunity for diving into action with PSVR2, highlighting some of its latest offerings such as Alien: Rogue Incursion, Behemoth, and Metro Awakening.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that the company has expanded the value of PSVR2 by offering PC compatibility! This means, with the right PC adapter, I can now dive into my entire collection of VR games through Steam, directly from my PlayStation VR2 device.
In addition to other updates, the latest version of PSVR2 now includes “real-time hand motion tracking,” allowing it to detect and follow your hand movements accurately, eliminating the requirement for traditional controllers.
