This Thursday morning, A24 unveiled a fresh trailer for “Death of a Unicorn“. You can catch it in the video at the top of this page. Although some scenes and moments from the initial trailer resemble a few others, the newly revealed footage will draw you deeper into the rabbit hole, introducing you to a world that mirrors our reality but includes legendary beings.
The film titled “Death of a Unicorn” showcases an impressive ensemble with Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega leading the charge. Rudd embodies Elliot, a seemingly ordinary man, while Ortega brings Ridley, his teenage daughter, to life. Their journey starts in the woods, heading to Elliot’s boss’s residence for a wellness retreat. However, upon arrival, the atmosphere takes a dark turn.
It has been discovered that the nature reserve near home is inhabited by unicorns, and their genetic makeup holds the key to human immortality. However, the boss’ wealthy family becomes determined to capture and exploit every unicorn in the forest, believing it will grant them not just eternal life, but a miraculous elixir they can profit from.
One captivating aspect of this capitalistic satire lies in its portrayal of unicorns as fearsome mythical creatures. In the latest preview, these unicorns refuse to be hunted for human purposes, instead striking back with their own hunts.
Besides Rudd and Ortega, the cast of “Death of a Unicorn” includes Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, and Richard E. Grant. Notably, both Rudd and Ortega are also credited as executive producers for the film. Additionally, Ari Aster, who directed films like “Hereditary” and “Midsommar”, is an executive producer too.
The movie titled “Death of a Unicorn” was created and supervised by Alex Scharfman, also serving as one of its producers. As of now, it’s slated for a nationwide theater release on March 28th, distributed by A24.
