Kim Basinger Reveals Surprising Details About Alec Baldwin Relationship

Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin’s relationship has improved significantly, having weathered the passage of more than two decades since their divorce.

Actress from ‘L.A. Confidential’, who has a 29-year-old daughter Ireland with her former husband, recently provided insights about their relationship during a seldom granted interview.

In a recent interview with Variety on February 25 (her first in over two years), Kim shared that Alec and she share a wonderful relationship. She holds high regard for him personally and admires the progress he’s made and his family.

That family now includes Alec’s wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and the couple’s seven children.

He mentioned that we don’t get together often for Christmases or holidays, or see each other much,” the 71-year-old pointed out. “Yet, we keep in touch. He’ll give me a call, and our connection is truly warm and I believe caring, in many aspects, because we have a daughter in common. I wish him only the best.

Apart from mentioning that the 66-year-old, who had manslaughter charges against him dismissed in July following his indictment over the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of their movie ‘Rust’ last year, Kim also acknowledged that he has experienced a great deal recently.

Additionally, she acknowledged Hilaria, whom Kim described as “doing an excellent job” with the situation. Keep up the good work, Hilaria!

Alec, who has seven children with Hilaria – Carmen Gabriela (11), Rafael Thomas (9), Leonardo Ángel Charles (8), Romeo Alejandro David (6), Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas (4), María Lucía “Marilu” Victoria (4), and Ilaria Catalina Irena (2) – has yet to address Kim’s comments in public, appearing alongside his family on the new TLC reality show The Baldwins.

 

Previously, Kim has mentioned maintaining a friendly relationship with Alec following their divorce. Back in 2016, she expressed to Net-a-Porter’s magazine The Edit that they are now on good terms and have become “friendly” towards each other.

At that point, the actress expressed that divorce is always tough for children, regardless of the circumstances. In our case, it was particularly difficult because it was highly publicized and contentious.

On Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook series, Red Table Talk, she remarked, “Alec can be tricky.” She added, “Everything is peaceful between us now, but he certainly keeps me on my toes.

1993 saw the marriage between Alec and Kim, which ended in divorce in 2002, when their daughter was just seven. For years following, they fought over custody matters in court. In 2007, a private voicemail message Alec had left for Ireland, initially kept secret during their legal dispute, accidentally surfaced online and quickly spread virally.

Alec Baldwin, the Emmy-winning actor recognized as Alexander Rae Baldwin III, was born on April 3, 1958, to Alexander Rae Baldwin Jr. and Carol Newcomb. He is the second-born among six children and the eldest among his brothers.

Carol outlived her father, who passed away at age 55 in 1983. Despite battling breast cancer in 1991, she lived a remarkable life until the age of 92. Her final day was May 26, 2022. She leaves behind 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a cancer research foundation that bears her name.

Alec was married to Oscar winner Kim Basinger from 1993 until 2002.

Their daughter Ireland Baldwin was born Oct. 23. 1995.

Alec married Hilaria Baldwin (née Thomas) on June 30, 2012.
