As a dedicated gaming enthusiast, I’m always eager for the latest sales data from Famitsu, and this week’s release didn’t disappoint! The action-adventure spinoff, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, has taken the spotlight as the most popular new release. This dynamic game is dominating the software charts, with its PS5 version selling an impressive 68,000 units and its PS4 version following closely behind with over 36,000 units sold. It’s no wonder why it’s grabbing everyone’s attention!
In Japan, the game titled “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” shifted more than 105,000 physical copies when it was launched. Contrasting this, the previous spin-off release from the series, “Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name,” sold approximately 123,000 units upon its 2023 debut in Japan.
The remainder of the top ten list is mostly filled with Nintendo Switch exclusive games, such as “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD” in third place, “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” in fourth, “Super Mario Party Jamboree” in fifth, and “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” in eighth. Surprisingly, “It Takes Two,” a game co-developed by EA and Hazelight Studios, returned to the top ten at ninth place, selling more than 3,000 units.
In terms of hardware sales, it was Nintendo Switch that dominated once more, selling approximately 39,000 units. The S5 trailed closely behind, recording around 13,000 unit sales.
