Monster Hunter Wilds mounting system explained
When you encounter a monster, you first need to meet certain requirements before you can attack it from atop. This involves building up a mount meter, which you can achieve by executing a Jump Attack. To initiate this, find a raised platform or similar elevated surface, such as a ledge, and jump onto it first.
From an elevated position, execute the Jump Attack by clicking the M1 Mouse Button/Triangle/Y key. If you strike the monster successfully, a portion of the meter will progress. Repeatedly perform this action to completely fill the meter, and you’ll then have the ability to ride the monster as your next mount.

Once you have successfully mounted a monster, it will be open to different types of attacks.

If you fail, you’ll lose a large chunk of stamina. Once your stamina comes down to 0, you’ll be automatically dismounted |
In the world of Monster Hunter Wilds, where I roam as a hunter, I must wait before I can mount those towering beasts. Once mounted, I can’t immediately unleash a Finisher – instead, I need to keep dealing damage consistently. It’s only after a while that my attacks transform into a powerful Finisher. Interestingly, I can also inflict wounds on monsters using strategic Strong Knife attacks, which leave deep marks on their bodies.
