7 Epic Star Wars Characters Fans Are Dying to See in Andor Season 2!

In approximately two months, the second season of “Andor” will debut on Disney+. Fans can anticipate several familiar characters joining Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor in this series. As a prequel to the 2016 film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” the first season of “Andor” was released in 2022, detailing the early stages of the revolution prior to Cassian meeting Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso. Spanning over four years, Season 2 of “Andor” will wrap up the storyline initiated in Season 1 as rebellion spreads throughout the galaxy. Alongside Luna’s Cassian, Season 2 will welcome back Stellan Skarsgård’s Luthen Rael, Adria Arjona’s Bix Caleen, Denise Gough’s Dedra Meero, Kyle Soller’s Syril Karn, Varada Sethu’s Cinta Kaz, and Faye Marsay’s Vel Sartha. Who else might make an appearance?

In keeping with the Star Wars tradition of unexpected appearances and linking past stories, Andor Season 2 offers a prime chance for reintroducing characters from Rogue One. It’s been announced, or strongly suggested, that these seven Star Wars figures will make an appearance in the second season of Andor.

Orson Krennic

In the film “Rogue One”, Orson Krennic was first introduced as a live-action character, serving as the head of the Imperial Military’s Advanced Weapons Research Department and overseeing the construction and operation of the Death Star. Played by Ben Mendolsohn, Krennic didn’t appear in “Andor” Season 1. However, the latest trailer for “Andor” Season 2 hints that Krennic will be part of the series’ climactic storyline, with his character stationed on the Death Star. It was previously announced in June 2024 that Krennic would feature in the show. Given the significant rebellion at the heart of Season 2, it seems fitting for Krennic to take on a major antagonist role against the rebels. Despite his death in “Rogue One”, the Disney+ series provides an opportunity to delve deeper into Mendolsohn’s villainous character before the events of “Rogue One”.

Saw Gerrera

Forest Whitaker’s character, Saw Gerrera, initially appeared in live-action within the Star Wars universe through “Rogue One”. He later reappeared in Season 1 of “Andor” and is set to return for Season 2. The trailer for Season 2 suggests that Saw will play a more significant role in the show’s events. Towards the end, he can be heard urging, “Remember this moment. You’re right here, and you’re ready to fight.” Star Wars enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating seeing more of this character as he collaborates with Cassian and the resistance fighters.

K-2SO

In the blockbuster film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” the security droid K-2SO, portrayed by Alan Tudyk, made his debut. During the movie, he proved to be a valuable asset to the rebels, becoming close friends with Cassian Andor, and even sacrificed himself selflessly to aid Jyn in stealing the Death Star plans. Fans rejoice as K-2SO is set to return in “Andor” Season 2, reprising his witty character and technical abilities. A brief glimpse of K-2SO in the Season 2 trailer hints at his role in the narrative, although specific details about his screen time remain unclear. The arrival of K-2SO is an exhilarating twist for “Andor” Season 2, as it offers a chance to explore the droid’s past and deepen the bond between him and Cassian.

Galen Erso

Although Mads Mikkelsen’s character Galen Erso from Rogue One hasn’t been officially confirmed for Andor Season 2, it would make sense for him to be included given his ties to the rebellion and the Death Star’s role in Andor. Since Galen played a pivotal part in sabotaging the Death Star during its early stages, which eventually led to its destruction, it’s plausible that he could reappear in Andor Season 2 before he left the project. Star Wars often incorporates cameos of well-known characters across its projects, so there’s a chance Galen may make a brief appearance in Andor Season 2.

Grand Moff Tarkin

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, let me share my excitement about the possibility of Grand Moff Tarkin appearing in Andor Season 2. In Rogue One, they ingeniously brought him back using CGI from the original trilogy’s Peter Cushing and Guy Henry as the stand-in on set. If they follow a similar approach for Andor, it would be thrilling to see this iconic character again!

Tarkin was instrumental in the Death Star’s construction and operation, making his presence in Andor Season 2 not only plausible but also fitting. His frequent collaborations with Director Krennic during their Star Wars tenure are well-documented, and given that Krennic has been confirmed for Season 2, it raises the anticipation of Tarkin’s potential involvement even higher.

Moreover, Tarkin embodies the spirit of an older Star Wars era. His return in Andor could bring a much-needed dose of nostalgia and remind us of the timeless charm that made us fall in love with this universe all those years ago. Here’s to hoping for Tarkin’s inclusion in Andor Season 2!

Mon Mothma

In Season 1 of “Andor”, Mon Mothma (portrayed by Genevieve O’Reilly) emerged as a pivotal figure, leading the Rebel Alliance in their mission to reinstate democracy across the galaxy. This Chandrilan politician has had previous appearances in “Rogue One” and “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” from 2005. The trailer for Season 2 of “Andor” confirms that Mothma will return, having made a small appearance in the Disney+ series “Ahsoka” due in 2023. In the upcoming episodes, Mothma is expected to play a significant part in the resistance’s strategy against the Empire. Excited Star Wars enthusiasts can’t wait to delve deeper into this character, who played a crucial role in sparking the rebellion.

Darth Vader

While it might seem unlikely, there’s a possibility that we could see Darth Vader appear in the second season of Andor. This iconic Star Wars villain made a surprising appearance in Rogue One, and his powerful presence was felt even in a brief scene. If Andor Season 2 includes the Death Star, it would make sense for Darth Vader to make a brief appearance to underscore the power of the Empire.

Andor Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on April 22nd.
