In the most recent installment of Death in Paradise, the aspiration of the commissioner about to step down was definitively quashed as the plea to preserve his position, initiated by Catherine and Sebastian, fell short in altering their superior’s decision.
The campaign surpassed 10,000 supporters, and Catherine ventured to Jamaica, donning her mayoral hat, to discuss her friend’s case with the top official. However, it seemed that he had already decided.
“I feel like an idiot,” sighed Catherine.
Initially, he criticized her attempts to prevent his retirement – “I’ve had to tell you this multiple times, but it’s going to be awkward for both of us” – however, later on, he expressed gratitude for everything she had accomplished.
He expressed his appreciation for the strong attempt, one that I truly value, before requesting that she refrain from further involvement in this matter, he added.
“That ship has very much sailed and I need to accept it, as do you,” he added.
Selwyn expressed his regrets to his team for becoming irritable upon hearing that his time in the police force was coming to an end, and acknowledged their hard work with gratitude.
With Selwyn’s departure imminent within a week, those in authority have chosen his successor instead.
In the sneak peek for the upcoming episode, Catherine mentions that Selwyn has shared some information with you. Later, she lets Mervin and the others know that this newcomer is expected to arrive, introducing himself and learning more about the situation.
The newcomer comments, ‘This is such an adorable small spot you have,’ but it’s clear he’s expressing some disregard for Selwyn.
