Sharon Horgan is all set to keep her place among the most captivating comedic talents on TV, as she was commissioned for a fresh series by HBO this week.
Right off the bat, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news as a movie enthusiast! Hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed second season of Apple TV+’s comedic drama “Bad Sisters,” I found myself in an electrifying cast alongside Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, and Fiona Shaw. Can’t wait to see it unfold on screen!
Currently, she’s spearheading a HBO venture that has been directly commissioned for broadcast, marking the initiation of a first-look agreement between the American network and her production company, Merman.
In the upcoming series, still without a title, Horgan portrays a character who is a 50-year-old divorcee seeking both sex and love. Simultaneously, she finds herself responsible for taking care of her aging parents while also navigating the challenges of parenting an adult son that should be independent.
The specific actors who will appear haven’t been revealed yet, but it’s certain that Horgan will write the scripts, act in, and oversee the production of the upcoming project.
The speaker expressed joy in collaborating with Casey [Bloys], Amy [Gravitt], Francesca [Orsi], and the HBO team once more. They are thrilled that Merman will have the opportunity to continue crafting stories for a company renowned for hosting some of the most iconic TV shows ever produced.
Amy Gravitt, HBO and Max Comedy Programming’s Executive Vice President, stated: “We’re overjoyed to work with Sharon again. It’s her ability to share her personal experiences through the characters she creates that makes everyone feel a bit less isolated, which is what truly distinguishes her comedy.
Additionally, she possesses an keen ability to select suitable materials and a powerful passion for guiding others’ narratives. We eagerly anticipate the fresh perspective she will add to our team.
Beyond working on her personal endeavors, Horgan has additionally taken up the role of a producer for various notable comedic series, including BBC Two’s There She Goes, Sky’s Dreamland, and Channel 4’s This Way Up.
