Akira Toriyama’s final project, titled “Dragon Ball Daima“, wrapped up its run on a significant date – the anniversary of the author’s first death. From crafting the narrative to designing the characters, Toriyama played a crucial role throughout the show’s creation and oversaw every aspect during production. While Executive Director Akio Ino claimed it was mere coincidence, the release of “Dragon Ball Daima” in the same year as the manga’s 40th anniversary generated quite a buzz. The story unfolds in the Demon Realm, where Goku and his companions travel to retrieve the dragon balls and regain their youthful ages.
For most of the show’s duration, the central conflict revolves around who will claim the title of Demon King. Following Dabura’s demise during the Majin Buu Saga, Gomah assumes the position. Yet, Supreme Kai’s siblings, Degesu and Arinsu, also aspire for the role. Given the size of the Demon Realm, it’s no wonder others are vying for control over the land. In the final episode of Dragon Ball Daima, Gomah was defeated, leading to a new king who is not as widely recognized as some other characters – Majin Kuu, who seems ideally suited for the position.
Majin Kuu Becomes the New Demon King in Dragon Ball Daima
In the series, the character Majin Kuu, born under Marba’s witchcraft and overseen by Dr. Arinsu (the same sorceress who brought Majin Buu into existence), is often overlooked. This unique entity is a blend of a Saibaman seed and Majin Buu’s essence, showcasing characteristics from both species. Despite possessing considerable strength, Kuu falls short when facing the Tamagami, prompting Arinsu to ask Marba to develop another Majin instead.
Despite being seemingly insane, Kuu has shown great usefulness to her in various instances, particularly during the second test set by the Tamagami of the first Demon World. Rather than possessing extreme offensive and defensive abilities, Majin Kuu demonstrates extraordinary intelligence, capable of rapid learning and swift understanding of intricate information. In the final battle, while Goku was engaged with Gomah, it was Kuu who struck the antagonist on the head, causing his third eye to detach.
The outcome of the battle ended with Gomah’s downfall, thereby crowning Kuu as the winner. Furthermore, it’s stipulated that whoever vanquishes the Demon King inherits the throne. Despite his victory being somewhat fortuitous, things worked out favorably for him. Elder Namek, Neva, recognized Kuu’s potential to be an exceptional ruler, a stark contrast to his predecessor. Moreover, Kuu requested Arinsu’s aid in transforming the Demon Realm into a place that is both fearsome and habitable. In a remarkable show of trust, he bestowed upon her the title of Vice-Supreme Demon King.
The battle concluded with Gomah’s conquest, making Kuu the victor. By tradition, the one who beats the Demon King assumes power. Although his victory seemed lucky, it ultimately went well for him. Elder Namek, Neva, recognized Kuu as a promising ruler, unlike his predecessor. Furthermore, Kuu asked Arinsu to collaborate with him in creating a realm that is both fearsome and livable. He even appointed her as the Vice-Supreme Demon King.
Dragon Ball Daima has frequently pointed out the troubled condition of the world, yet a new era of kindness is approaching as a benevolent king ascends. With a reliable leader at the helm, backed by competent allies, tyranny has been vanquished in the Demon Realm. Although it will take time to ameliorate the lives of citizens and eradicate discrimination, Kuu is resolute on making improvements. The series concludes on an optimistic note, with Goku and his companions reverting to their normal selves and returning to their respective homes.
