Summary
- Coin is very hard to come by in the early stages of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
- Henry has to rely on kindness from NPCs, including a beggar.
- Players are disappointed that you can’t give alms to the poor.
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the protagonist experiences a common trope in sequels where they find themselves stripped of their valuable possessions and must relearn their skills from scratch. This transformation sees Henry go from being Lord Capon’s page to a penniless medieval peasant with no Groschens to his name. The creative approach taken by the writers in this case is having him fall off a cliff, which effectively resets his status and abilities.
At the beginning of the game, it’s tough to find those initial Groschens, so you often find yourself relying on others’ generosity. For instance, Bozhena, an old lady, assists in healing you after a fall and even gives you some coins. Similarly, Bara, a beggar, helps you navigate after spending a night in the pillory and also provides some coins. Players express frustration that they can’t offer help to the beggar when repaying Bozhena.
Henry The Benevolent
In time, I’ll be hauling bags, crafting horse shoes, and slay enough rogue outlaws to amass a tidy sum of Groschen and a solid set of armor, weapons too. As I traverse the bustling streets of these towns, I can’t help but think about repaying Bara or lending a helping hand to the less fortunate. However, the game restricts me from doing so, leaving players like myself a bit disheartened.
As a gamer, I’ve tossed every coin pouch at the cornered beggars in the game, hoping they’d appreciate the gesture as they often speak of charity being beneficial for one’s soul. Yet, to my surprise, they’ve shown no interest whatsoever.
Alternate Phrase: “Henry simply replied, ‘I’m feeling quite peckish,’… Frankly, this small detail stands out as a significant omission amidst what I consider to be primarily excellent work, in my opinion.
Players have pointed out that developers have implemented a system allowing NPCs to collect discarded items, but unfortunately, beggars were not included in this feature. As a result, one player expressed frustration saying, “Every time I drop food or clothing, someone else snatches it instead”, lamenting over the fact that they were trying to give items to the needy, only for others to take them.
It’s possible that the creators at Warhorse Studios might have underestimated the kindness of their community, and could potentially include the requested feature in an upcoming update.
