Ashlyn Harris won’t tolerate any fouls launched at Ali Krieger.
Approximately a year following the termination of their marriage, which produced children named Sloane, aged 4, and Ocean, in September 2023, the retired soccer goalkeeper expressed that while their divorce was complex, he will always maintain respect for his former spouse.
Harris stated during a conversation on the “Broad Ideas” podcast hosted by Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen on March 3 that dealing with his divorce is indeed a grieving process. He also emphasized that in his household, his presence, and around his children, no one will be permitted to speak negatively about his ex-wife or their past relationship.
39-years-old, she shared that being a mother represents the toughest challenge she’s faced so far. However, her separation from Ali, whom she married in 2019 following nine years together, had a more detrimental impact on her mental wellbeing. This event occurred just a year after she retired from Gotham FC in 2022.
Currently dating Sophia Bush, Harris underscores that his challenging divorce experience has reshaped his emotional navigation, a lesson he’s currently passing on to his two young children.
She expressed that the divorce was undeniably the most challenging phase in her life, as it was filled with immense sorrow and agony. Referring to Ali, who is currently dating Scottish soccer player Jen Beattie, she continued. “Being an emotional person, I believe it’s crucial to be open about one’s vulnerabilities and show one’s scars, particularly for our children. I don’t want us to constantly present a facade of being okay, as I wouldn’t want them to do the same with their friends, partners, me, or their mother.
The World Cup champion is also adhering to her personal guidebook, showing vulnerability particularly in her emerging career. Recently, Ashlyn started her “Wide Open” podcast on iHeart Women’s Sports, and she’s been learning techniques for handling the microphone from her most valued mentor: her girlfriend, Sophia.
Ashlyn shared with TopMob News on February 26 that her friend is incredibly supportive: “She’s been by my side for a long time, both in podcasting and the entertainment industry. Even after my soccer career concluded, she’s always motivated me to step into the limelight more.
As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to share that Ashlyn subtly suggested that the One Tree Hill alum, who I’ve been openly associated with since March 2024, might make an appearance on my show in due time. She mentioned, “I believe that will be something we’ll do when the timing is perfect.
