Adrien Brody Reacts to Longest Oscars Speech Record

No need to queue up the music.

The day following his win of the Best Actor Academy Award for his role in “The Brutalist,” Adrien Brody shared some thoughts with his fans, delivering an eloquent speech that lasted an impressive five minutes and forty seconds, setting a new record.

In a video he shared on Instagram on March 3rd, Adrien jokingly said he was going to make his speech brief because it’s already the longest Oscars speech ever given. He then expressed his love for everyone and gratitude. He encouraged everyone to keep smiling as a reminder that dreams can become a reality, and he hoped the same for their dreams too. He ended with a blessing.

In a spirit of thanksfulness and positivity, the 51-year-old accompanied the video with the message: “Embrace hope. Trust in your abilities. Share love instead of hatred. And a heartfelt thank you.

At the March 2nd event, I had the honor of stepping onto the stage after besting some remarkable talents such as Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice). Reaching the set 45-second limit, I requested a halt to the music so I could express my heartfelt thanks.

Adrien, who had won Best Actor for The Pianist in 2003, expressed his conclusion with a gentle emphasis as he carried on speaking, managing to surpass actress Greer Garson’s 1943 record for the longest speech by an impressive 10 seconds. “Could you kindly switch off the music now? I’ve been here before. This isn’t my first time around. I’ll keep it concise,” Adrien concluded.

While speaking for approximately six minutes, the actor from Winning Time reminisced about the years that had gone by since he received his first Academy Award and expressed his anticipation for the next two decades of his professional journey. As he concluded his speech, Adrien made sure to acknowledge his parents, girlfriend Georgina Chapman, and had a special message for her children, India and Dash – the offspring she shares with her former husband Harvey Weinstein.

He expressed, with genuine enthusiasm, “I’m delighted to reveal this with my extraordinary partner Georgina. Not only has she boosted my self-confidence, but also my perception of myself and my moral compass. It’s been quite the ride with Dash and India, but I want to express my gratitude for welcoming me into your lives,” Brody declared. “Popsie is returning home as a victor.
