It’s well-known among many of you that the PlayStation Store is cluttered with a lot of low-quality content. A recent investigation has uncovered the reason behind this, revealing that Sony doesn’t put as much effort as one might expect into carefully screening the developers who publish their content on its digital marketplace.
Initially, the product wasn’t particularly impressive, but some Reddit users have expressed confusion over the manufacturer’s strategy of advertising paid posts on social media for this “e-slop”.
On Instagram, you’ll find ads from manufacturers promoting intriguing names such as “Tickle the Turtle” and “Leapin’ Burger: Halloween Version”. These appear to be high-quality products, judging by their titles.
It appears that these advertisements might be computer-generated using content from the PlayStation Store. However, it’s puzzling why these specific game releases are being promoted over popular titles like Monster Hunter World, Split/Second, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. One would expect that if the goal is to market games effectively, they would prioritize promoting more significant titles.
Frankly, it’s already frustrating that the PlayStation Store is overrun with so much junk. It makes us question our desire to have Sony themselves actively endorse this clutter as well!
