This means we can expect a more focused and potentially higher-quality gaming experience from them during this period!
At present, the publisher has unveiled two upcoming titles for 2025: Shinobi: Art of Vengeance and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Additionally, they’re working on Project Century, but a release date hasn’t been set yet. New installments in the Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, and Streets of Rage series are also under development, although specific details about them remain scarce for now.
SEGA plans to pour more funds and bring on additional team members for the studios behind Persona, Sonic, and Like a Dragon (Atlus, Sonic Team, and RGG Studio respectively).
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but express my excitement over the publisher’s strategic moves. They recognize Atlus as a crucial player in expanding Japanese intellectual properties globally, and they aim to bolster it further. Not only that, but studios associated with Sonic and Like a Dragon franchises are facing staff shortages. To address this, the publisher plans to augment their workforce through new hirings and potential mergers and acquisitions.
This year looks like it will be more subdued for SEGA, as they focus on strengthening their main studios. Previously, the company’s president hinted at potentially launching a subscription service, so we’ll have to wait and see if that plan materializes as well.
