Bambi: The Reckoning Trailer Delivers Next Horror Movie From Blood and Honey Team

In a thrilling development, Jagged Edge Productions has officially released the chilling trailer for “Bambi: The Reckoning,” offering a dark and grisly portrayal of the cherished childhood figure as a vengeful, mutated deer who mercilessly pursues hunters in the forest. This film, helmed by director Dan Allen with a script penned by Rhys Warrington, serves as the fourth installment within the rapidly expanding Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU), following the “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” films and the recently debuted “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare.” The trailer tantalizes us with a glimpse into Bambi’s transformation from an innocent fawn to a ruthless killer, seeking vengeance against humans following the tragic death of his mother at the hands of hunters.

The video depicts Roxanne McKee as Xana and Tom Mulheron as her son Benji, who find themselves lost in the wilderness following a car crash and encounter a menacing deer. Unlike the sweet, wide-eyed Bambi from the beloved Disney tale, this portrayal sports huge, sharp antlers and fangs, dwarfing its human adversaries. The trailer primarily spotlights Bambi, offering brief glimpses of the beast prowling through misty forests and preying on unsuspecting individuals.

In this footage, Roxanne McKee is seen as character Xana, along with Tom Mulheron playing her son Benji. They get stranded in the wilderness after a car crash, meeting up with a sinister deer. Unlike the innocent Bambi from the classic Disney movie, this version features an intimidating figure with large antlers and jagged teeth that seem too sharp for a deer, making it appear taller than its human counterparts. The trailer mainly concentrates on Bambi, providing glimpses of him wandering through foggy woods and attacking people unaware.

In my perspective, the story revolves around me, Bambi, undergoing a chilling transformation following the tragic loss of my mother at the hands of ruthless hunters. Now fully matured and consumed by an unquenchable thirst for vengeance, I prowl the forest, targeting every human who dares to tread within my domain. The unfortunate encounter between Xana and her son, finding themselves in a perilous struggle for existence, pits them against me – a predator far more cunning and malicious than an ordinary animal might be.

How The Twisted Childhood Universe Is Building Its Horror Franchise

The trailer for “Bambi: The Reckoning” has been released, as Jagged Edge Productions moves forward with their ambitious project to create a horror universe based on distorted versions of well-known children’s characters from the public domain. Taking cues from popular superhero film universes, they are introducing individual villains in separate movies before uniting them in the upcoming event titled “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble”. This strategy allows for exploration of various horror subgenres while keeping a cohesive thread between each production. According to director Scott Chambers of “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare”, “The Poohniverse is designed to provide a unique experience with every entry, in order to appeal to diverse audiences.

In addition, Chambers has cautioned that when these characters unite, nobody should feel secure: “It’s going to be chaotic and I intend to eliminate many [characters],” he shared with ComicBook. “I want it to be brutal. Anyone you grow fond of throughout the story, don’t assume they’ll make it through. As a storyteller, I dislike tales without any casualties or risk. So, don’t expect Wendy or Christopher Robin to survive this; none of them are immune.

Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who was behind the two Winnie-the-Pooh films, characterizes the upcoming Monsters Assemble as having a strong influence from Freddy Vs Jason and The Avengers. He envisions Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, the Mad Hatter, Peter Pan, and Tinkerbell teaming up to cause chaos. In addition, the series thoughtfully assigns unique personalities and goals to each antagonist, ensuring intriguing interactions when they eventually clash.

Bambi: The Reckoning will be released in Summer 2025.
