Soon, David Production will debut its first original anime titled “Onmyo KAITEN Re:verse” after years spent creating popular adaptations in the industry.
David Production recently unveiled a fresh trailer to excite fans ahead of the show’s release in July 2025. The clip offers glimpses of the animation’s vivid style and deeper looks into the characters and storyline. Alongside the trailer, the studio also shared a new poster, cast details, and other intriguing tidbits about the upcoming series. Renowned Japanese animator Takahashi Hideya, who previously worked on “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure – Part 5: Golden Wind,” is identified as the original creator of “Onmyo KAITEN Re:verse.” Interestingly, even though the show is said to be an original production, a manga adaptation by Kodansha has already started running, preceding the anime’s summer broadcast.

The protagonist, Narihira Takeru, a rebellious teenager, suddenly finds himself in a futuristic city named Denji Heiankyo. The city is filled with peculiarities such as rampaging monsters and powerful individuals known as onmyoji. The trailer showcases these oddities, including the frequent monster attacks on citizens and the existence of superhumans.
Takeru’s fiery spirit and impulsive nature, common traits of a delinquent “Yanki” male lead, drive him to confront these monsters. His life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Tsukimiya, an idol and dancer whom he has been dreaming about. The bond between the two characters promises to be intriguing as their story unfolds in this captivating isekai world.
In the series Onmyo KAITEN Re:verse, Abe no Seimei serves as one of the primary characters. He’s recognized as the most potent onmyoji within Heiankyo, using his powers to safeguard the city’s inhabitants. However, there’s an unusual intrigue he harbors towards Takeru that sets the storyline apart. The teaser previews some thrilling combat sequences, with a focus on Takeru’s unique abilities. Notably, during battles, Takeru seems to encase himself in energy, transforming into a colossal monster-like figure. This transformation allows him to counteract enemies. The action is extravagant, chaotic, and vividly colorful, traits that echo David Production’s signature style in their other projects.
David Production is the House of JoJo!
It was David Production that successfully transformed “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” from a printed manga into an ongoing animated series, a task which had been elusive for decades due to unsuccessful prior attempts at animation adaptation. The beloved shonen manga had been confined to paper until 2012 when David Production launched “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Animation”. This anime adaption catapulted the franchise into internet meme culture and cemented its status as an enduring cultural icon, further solidifying David Production’s reputation. To date, the studio has adapted the first six parts of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure”, leaving fans eagerly waiting to see if they will continue adapting the remaining manga content.
Apart from “JoJo”, David Production has also brought us “Hyperdimension Neptunia”, “Captain Tsubasa”, “Cells at Work!”, “Fire Force“, and “Undead Unluck”.
