Tina Knowles is a proud grandmother.
Regarding her daughter Beyoncé and her three charming grandchildren – Blue Ivy Carter (13 years old), and twins Rumi Carter and Sir Carter (both 7) whom she shares with husband Jay-Z – Tina is overflowing with pride. During the cherished moments they share, she can’t help but recognize glimpses of herself in them.
Certainly, she mentioned that Blue Ivy, the young artist who shared the stage with her during this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, mirrors her in her pursuit of creative endeavors.
At the National CARES Mentoring Movement’s 10th Anniversary event held at the Edison Hotel, Tina shared with TopMob News that she constantly invents things and uses both her hands and mind for it. She finds her to be incredibly impressive.
Apart from Blue Ivy, it’s not just Beyoncé who has drawn inspiration from the 35-time Grammy winner. In fact, Beyoncé included her youngest daughter, Rumi, on her latest country album, “Cowboy Carter“, in the fourth track titled “Projector.” This happened a decade after Blue Ivy was featured in the song “Blue.
Indeed, I’m extremely pleased about Rumi’s first musical performance,” the 71-year-old shared, highlighting her pride. “Each and every one of my grandkids, they truly are remarkable.
Yet, Tina isn’t certain that Rumi will choose a music career path similar to her mother’s. When queried about this prospect, she merely stated, “I find it unlikely.
“I hope not,” she added, “I hope she chooses something else.”
Regarding her grandson, Sir, he’s more of a quiet type and enjoys reading instead. Given his deep love for books, Tina often chooses certain stories to share with him.
As a dedicated enthusiast, I couldn’t help but be captivated by a story that carries a profound message: “The smallest tree can be the mightiest,” a tale she shared with me. This tiny tree, in time, becomes the most powerful and saves the day – it’s this sentiment that resonates deeply with me. I adore this book!
For Tina, family holds immense importance, particularly as she is not only a mother to daughter Solange Knowles, aged 38, but also a grandmother to Daniel “Julez” Smith Jr., who is 20 years old. She cherishes being present for their significant life events, such as when Beyoncé was awarded Album of the Year for the first time at the 2025 Grammys.
On the Jennifer Hudson Show last month, Tina reminisced, “I had visited her home. My purpose was to assist her and Blue in preparing for something. However, I was taken aback – extremely so! I must admit, I was completely flabbergasted.
She went on to say, “Indeed, I found myself frozen in disbelief for a moment. There I was, alongside my granddaughter Rumi and grandson Sir, and for a brief instant, we simply remained still. It seemed unreal to me.
