There’s good news and bad news on the horizon for fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Viewers are sure to save the date for the show’s comeback in July, and it’s been officially announced that season 3 will conclude the long-running love triangle saga.
The news has been officially announced on Prime Video, featuring Lola Tung’s show ‘Belly’ prominently in their post. Notably, the image suggests that this is indeed the last season of the series.
The public response to the news has been quite varied. One enthusiast expressed their disappointment on platform X by saying, “It’s unfortunate, it could have been something great,” while another fan shared their sadness, stating, “This news is heart-wrenching for me.
On the contrary, many book enthusiasts have embraced this development, pointing out that the show derives from Jenny Han’s trilogy, which suggests that three seasons align well with the volume of source material the series encompasses.
Earlier, when discussing the upcoming installment with Deadline, author Han shared, “I’m excited to deliver the memorable scenes from the third book that fans are anticipating, while also aiming to catch them off guard with some unexpected surprises and delights.
She clarified that, given her extensive familiarity with these narratives, dating back even before the series began, and her interactions with fans through book signings and personal messages, she truly believes she grasps the significance they value.
Whenever possible, I strive to provide enjoyable experiences during the show, as I understand they’ve been eagerly anticipating it for some time. I make every effort to create memorable moments that will leave them content.
Currently, there isn’t a formal summary available for Season 3, but fans can hardly wait for its arrival, eager to discover which Fisher brother Belly will ultimately pick in the end.
In Season 2, she opted for Jeremiah instead of Conrad. Later, TV Line interviewed Tung about her character’s choice, and he explained it by stating that it was a decision that seemed logical to her character at that particular point in time.
Tung stated: “She’s faced a lot with both of them, and I believe she’s come to understand that, during that period, Conrad didn’t demonstrate enough commitment to their relationship compared to what she was prepared to give.
As a dedicated moviegoer, let me share my observation: I see Jeremiah standing firm, unwavering in his devotion. He’s not just fighting for her; he’s battling for her, day in and day out. His actions speak volumes about the depth of his love and concern. Even amidst seeing her with Conrad for such a long time, Jeremiah seems to be proving, to me at least, that his affection and care are unyielding.
Will navigating through season 3 with Jeremiah be smooth sailing, or will there be a change of heart about the decision made? Time will tell in July.
The Summer I Turned Pretty seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Prime Video.
