In the latest installment of Dragon Ball Super, some stunning new artwork has been unveiled for the upcoming volume, decisively resolving the controversy surrounding Broly’s new Super Saiyan form. Although the official manga version of Dragon Ball Super initially overlooked adapting the events from the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, it has surprisingly incorporated a wealth of content related to Broly in its storyline. The initial depiction of Broly in the manga, however, showed him with blond hair instead of the green tresses he sports when transforming into Super Saiyan, as seen in the movie. This discrepancy sparked a heated debate about which version aligns with the official canon.
As an observer, I found this discussion quite enlightening given the distinct ways Dragon Ball Super handled events initially depicted in the anime. Now, the uncertainty seems to be put to rest with the unveiling of Volume 24’s cover art from Toyotaro. This captivating artwork showcases Broly in his new form, mastering his Super Saiyan power completely. Notably, it features Broly’s green hair – a characteristic that aligns with the anime version of his transformation, thus settling the debate once and for all. Take a peek at the image below, as pointed out by @DbsHype on X.

What Is Broly’s New Super Saiyan Form?
As an observer, I recall that prior to its extended break, the manga version of “Dragon Ball Super” took a unique approach in adapting the storyline from the “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” movie. Instead of just following the film’s narrative, it delved deeper by incorporating a comprehensive prologue and epilogue to the arc. This expansion provided additional story elements, such as expanding on the training sessions between Goku, Vegeta, and Broly that were briefly shown on Beerus’ planet during the movie.
With a broader perspective on their training, it becomes clear that Goku aimed to have Broly join him, so he could learn to effectively manage his Super Saiyan Full Power transformation. This ability seems specific to Broly since the transformation is fueled by his anger, but during his training on Beerus’ planet, Broly manages to break free from his frenzied state and master his Super Saiyan power. This marks a fresh development in Broly’s power potential, hinting at a future where he could potentially align with Universe 7’s strongest protectors, as suggested in this new artwork.
Will We See More of This New Broly Form Soon?
Since the death of Akira Toriyama last year, there’s been a long pause in the release of Dragon Ball Super. As of now, it remains unclear if or when the manga will resume publication. However, there is some positive news: a new chapter of the series was released recently, focusing on Trunks and Goten prior to the events of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero arc. This suggests that the story might be moving forward in some capacity.
The cliffhanger from the Super Hero storyline persists since it was disclosed that Frieza, having acquired a fresh form, is currently the most powerful fighter in Universe 7. With the conclusion of the Dragon Ball Daima anime series (which was packed with unexpected twists potentially linked to Dragon Ball Super’s future), there’s greater anticipation than ever before for additional Dragon Ball Super tales to unfold.
