Sudiksha Konanki’s story is believed to have come to a heartbreaking end.
According to reports from ABC News on March 9th, it’s thought that a student from the University of Pittsburgh, who went missing during a spring break vacation in the Dominican Republic, passed away due to drowning.
According to reports, three individuals from the Dominican Republic who were part of the investigation stated that Konanki was strolling along the beach with a group of six others on March 5. It is suspected that she subsequently drowned in the sea.
As per a police report, as reported by ABC News, it seems that the majority of the group returned to their hotel at different times during the night. However, one friend stayed with Konanki and they both decided to take a late-night swim. The police report mentions that this pair was swept away by a large wave.
According to the Dominican Republic Public Ministry, the last sighting of Konanki (aged 20) on CCTV was approximately 4:15 a.m. on March 6th.
It was reported on March 6 that Konanki had gone missing, with authorities suspecting she disappeared sometime between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. that morning. A representative from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, named Thomas Julia, made this statement to NBC News. At the time, he mentioned that all possible scenarios were being considered by the authorities.
Currently, it spans from being an unintentional event to a deliberate act,” Julia explained. “At the moment, everything is under scrutiny. No possibilities have been dismissed yet.
He mentioned that among the top focuses of the investigation were securing videos, examining cell phone data, and speaking to individuals who had been with Konanki.
According to NBC News, since Konanki was an Indian national, the Indian embassy became involved in the investigation, and the University of Pittsburgh also offered support.

Since Konanki was an Indian native, the Indian embassy became actively involved in the probe, as reported by NBC News, with the University of Pittsburgh offering their support as well.
The school’s representative confirmed that they are communicating with Sudiksha Konanki’s family and Loudoun County authorities. They have also extended their complete assistance to help locate her and ensure her safe return.
